Monkey Fruit Fight is a nice little gem of an indie game. Old school retro PvP action reminds me of the days I went to the arcades as a kid in the 80s. Being able to play a family friendly game with my own kids like this is just great fun! And they like it a lot! Who knew throwing pixelated fruits at each other could be so much fun? Oh and great soundtrack too! Highly recommended!
Monkey Fruit Fight is a fun arcade game that I'd call "easy to learn, difficult to master". I haven't played much, and I haven't even tried playing with someone else yet, but I have discovered strategies and tricks. For instance, there aren't really wall jumps in this game, but you can do a type of wall jump if you do it at the top of the wall, which would then be counted as jumping normally. It also works with the platforms that you can go through. I don't know if this is intended, but it is a really nice technique to use. The movement is also kinda nice, with the classic concept of the character accelerating slowly unless you jump. The fact that your own projectiles can damage you is very good, and it's important to tackle the problem of making spamming projectiles not work as a strategy. Making a too long cooldown is not intuitive, so I like this solution more. I'd say that probably all flaws I found with this game has to do with it being early access. The bugs and the features you can't use yet is what I'm speaking of. I'll list of a few improvements that I'd be happy to see when this game leaves early access: - Options to configure the battle itself. As an example, melons disappear after about 5 seconds. That's a feature that could be good, but makes them often quite a bad fruit, since bananas were the only weapons (I think) that didn't oneshot them. However, if this wasn't the case, and melons wouldn't disappear, they'd be very op, and with more uses. Also, another example, options that can reduce the timer for the next round to begin. - Make projectiles be able to go trough portals. It would not only be logical, but also a really nice feature as well. - Fixing the bugs, but I guess I really don't have to mention that, since early access tends to have a lot of bugs. At the moment, you'll probably need a friend to play it with you, but in that case on the same screen... since I couldn't get hosting a server to work, sadly. If that's how it is for everyone, that means you can't play online at all. As a conclusion, I'd say this game has good ideas, and a good concept, but isn't perfect due to it being in early access.
