King of the Hat

I'm a big fan of these party style games that remind me of older games I grew up with in the arcade, home consoles, and my Commodore 64. One may feel the price for this style of game is a bit high, but it does have friend passes, and quite a bit of content to unlock already, so i feel it's worth the 20 dollars. The game has a few modes, but most people are going to gravitate to the multiplayer action, where up to 4 players select a different fighter and try to step on everyone else's hat! You also throw your hat as a weapon, and timing when to throw it, when to not throw it, and what your opponents are doing is a huge part of the tactics in this game. Every character is at least slightly different, with Birthday being the baseline and others having various bonuses and penalties comparatively. I have a couple of minor issues that don't detract from the overall fun of the game; the money you earn currently does nothing, the abilities of each character could be a bit better defined, and it could be a little clearer as to how to change your outfit with a controller (it uses the bumpers, but found out by watching some videos). All of this is fixable and minor, making this an easy recommendation. This one is up there with Duck Game, Stick Fight, and Rounds; chaotic multiplayer fun, and I look forward to seeing what else they add to the game.
