preface by saying that I got A or A+ I don't remember, played with people who are good at other games and knew this one but I did solo que a good portion as well and played all but 2 of my games in ground mode. games rock, paper, scissor, system works great at anything below 600 (600 is pushing it but it's still there), when you understand stun timings, know what recovery I frames you have and know what recovery frames your opponent has, and know what items to choose, the system becomes very fun and the game is at it's peak, that said, everyone wants to play the higher ratings because, big flashy ahh unicorn and banshee, the fundamentals of the game fall apart and turn into who hit who first, roll bonus damage and resistance becomes irrelevant as most units at 650+ have some kind of one-shot or near combo even into there disadvantage, most MC units have some kind of inescapable cheese, roll identity also falls off really hard, the game becomes far more about uninhibited power fantasy then actual fun and engaging game play, what I'm saying in short is the footies disappears and turns into a gimmicky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. game is best played on controller btw. the pilot system is kind of fun, I wish it didn't have the same turning speed cap of the mobile suites but I guess that it was a engine limitation, repairing suits and 3 dimensional movement is very fun, and the rocket launcher is very funny to use against unsuspecting opponents. player skill disparity is extremally high, good for players who play inconsistently, players have a lot of agency or win games, that's nice, team play is more focused around positioning and rotations, this means your probably playing off one other person usually, staggering is extremally punishing, which feels good. with the gameplay portion said, onto everything else, horridly exploitative gacha system ( if you save credits for the bi-yearly discount events account prog get a little better, but your still waiting a whole half to full year), server stability is atrocious, idk how the playtest servers where more stable then live, game performance is not the greatest, I get that it's a port but we're talking about a 10+ year old game and I'm still seeing frame drops on potato graphics, netcode if fine when it's not unstable, but when it becomes unstable, and it usually dose quite often, no regs become beyond frustrating, especially when dealing with such a delicate footies system, cheating is not a problem, i have encountered maybe 2-3 at most in my time and only 1 was blatant. with a majority of the player base focused on only playing high tier units because I'M ChAr AzNaBlE, the horrid gacha system, the performance issues both client and server side, and the extremely long que times due to most of the legacy playerbase leaving to go back to console, I cannot recommend this game, GEVO died to support this release and it flopped hard. Don't play

As a new player on PC you will: - Be greeted by gambling mechanics (it's literally part of the tutorial). - Barely find anyone in the matchmaker, (both ranked and casual). - Only find custom games with ¨Win farms¨. - Realise that there are several better GUNDAM games on roblox made by Gravity Front. If you do find a good custom match lobby, you will be greated by the most unpolished combat loop imaginable. After struggling against players that know what they are doing, you will have no choice but to go through several tutorial battles, that explain features that make a "team based fighting game" feel very limiting if you play casually. The game features flinching, staggering, and topple mechanics that become a fine way for experienced players to stun lock others. After trying to go head first into frontline combat, you expect to find better luck if you try to flank and suprise the enemy... little do you know it's a death sentance. The flanking class is the Raider, however. There is no reason to flank the enemy team, since the meta is to stick together. If you decide to flank, 1 out of 2 things will happen: - You will get pushed by the entire enemy team (because the radar tells them exactly where you are). - You will cause your own team to scatter, and then the enemy (who is bunched up) will stun lock everyone and eliminate them one by one. As a support there is no reason to attempt long range attacks, because the effective range is only about 400 meters. It can be effective if your team is working together. Dont expect to stay far away and pick off mobile suits one by one, because: - Cooldown between firing makes it so that the enemy has enough time to hide. - Your damage is high but not high enough to be effective alone (plus the damage fall of at range is high). - You would be better help if you were next to your teamates, slamming, toppling and stunning them. - Supports are generally slower than the 2 other classes, Raider and General, dont expect to be agile if the enemy finds its way to you. That makes only 1 out of the 3 classes suitable for a ¨bunched up¨ style of team combat. In a game where being tanky, agile, and powerful (all at once) is the baseline to be a good asset to your team, it essentially eliminates the need for variety playstyles. Which isn't suprising because the most common class is the General (general purpose). Keep in mind, as of the time I wrote this review, I've spent a total of 8 hours in game. However, most of the time it has been waiting for games in the lobby, playing tutorials, exploring features and at last only playing custom battles. Where I was only able to find ONE lobby where we played normal matches, the rest of the 10 other lobby's I've joined have been WIN FARM lobbys. The normal matches that I played where very one-sided, as soon as a team scatters it is hard to group up again. From what I have heard: The reason for the qeue time being bad, is because the match maker struggles to match lower ranked players with other low ranked players. You will apparantly have better luck finding games on console such as the PS4. The overall feeling is just dissapointment, very cool animations, and the mobile suit models are genuinely awesome. However, it doesn't mean anything if the new players are actively getting discouraged by hostile microtransactions, experienced players, custom game win farms, confusing upgrade systems, limited playstyle options and questionable balancing decisions. Also, it was such a disgrace to have the classic Gundam music locked behind music packs. (You will have to pay in real money to listen to something else than ¨generic combat music playlist 1¨). Expected from a free game, I'm glad I didnt pay money for this game. P.S. If you want to find lobby's on PC I would highly recommend finding discord servers with game night events. Otherwise, have fun trying to have fun.
Two things I have to say One: This game has the WORST penalty system alongside never being able to play in your region because 99% of the playerbase is in japan anyways. Two: A game on ROBLOX, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ROBLOX OF ALL THINGS is more fun than this (If you want to check that one out look for Operation Gravity Front, they do frequent events and none of it is p2w bs)
All of the complaints about matchmaking and gatcha mechanics are true and valid, but despite all of that this game is crazy fun. The combat is slow and methodical, the suits feel great, and I've gotten a chance to play around with all of my favorite suits from the UC timeline without spending a dime. Worth it if you're a big Gundam fan, this game is the closest I've come to feeling like I'm really in the suit. Just needs a campaign mode to be perfect.
it sucks
