So the color of the enemies indicates what kind of weapon your supposed to use? Then why is an enemy who is all purple supposed to be shot with the useless green weapon? Oh he has 4 barely visible green things around his neck. Also having a bunch of bunch of ridiculous sounding proper nouns doesn't give your world seem well thought out and interesting it makes it like reading a young adult novel; annoying and silly.
Sadly this game is no longer publicly available to purchase, but I still put the effort into making a review video critiquing it. For those looking to just read the highlights, here you are: Pros: -Decent artstyle, especially in regards to the weapon models, particle effects, and animations. -Intriguing MOBA-esque card based perk system. -Fairly unique weapon unlock system. Feels very cool & retro, unlocking everything through repeated play. -Decent enemy variety. Each enemy has different weapons and attack patterns, forcing you to adjust. Cons: -Movement can at times feel janky, particularly the jumping. -Player has no real defense against enemies swarming, no knockback or area denial abilities. -Player can often find themselves dying from no explainable source, can often feel cheap. -The game lacks any tutorial mode, which is needed given the many unexplained rules and mechanics. https://youtu.be/rbIsJ0kuwWA Mist Hunter is another roguelike entry into the gaming world at a modest price. this time around, it's set in an arena shooter style. Enter the gauntlet and survive wave after wave to obtain the mist, all the while you are poisoned and also have to retrieve vials of the antidote to keep going. There are plenty of difficulties to help you get acclimated to how this title handles, but even normal difficulty will innevitably have you scurrying about each map trying to stay alive and rack up as high score as possible. The core gameplay boils down to four different weapons you enter these arenas with, each one a different color. The idea is to kill the enemies on screen using the designated color weapon to inflict maximum damage. I do have a slight issue with this, however, as the red weapon (as seen in the video and discussed during the tutorial) did far more damage and ultimately was a one hit kill, which led me to running around like an idiot for a good twenty minutes (redacted from said video) trying to advance the tutorial thinking I was using the right weapon. That said, each wave does amp up the difficulty little by little. You also have to worry about the terrain such as boxes exploding ir post-death damage from enemies if too close. If you fall off the edge as well, you're dead and have to start from the beginning. There's also a couple different stages, but they do seem pretty confined and easy to traverse. Finding the antidote, however, can be a real pain on some. Once in a while it will appear in a spot that feels random to the player until you sit dpwm and think about. These antidotes do disappear if you fail to collect them, so it seems best to try to get them when half way to the death. Just follow the green arrow at the bottom and you'll eventually find it, not to mention know where the enemies are a which colored weapon works best against them. Overall, for just over five dollars US (introductory price), I'm finding myself having a good deal of stressed out fun. Catchy soundtrack, vibrant viosual, fast paced gameplay... Mist Hunter ma,es for an engaging roguelite with just enough stress (pending difficullty, of course) to keep you coming back for random rounds. Hopefully the devs at Flox Studios plan to do more and keep the game updated with new things like maps, upgrades. etc. If you have a spare five dollars, Mist Hunter is one worth giving a shot.
Awesome Game
Mist is the German word for manure. A fitting descriptor for this game, since it is good for, well, something, but not something you would usually want to spend a lot of time with.
