MINT VR 10 из 30
Right now, I can't recommend it as the video selection is a bit sparse and with quality issues, but it could become a nice way to view assorted videos, especially if the amount of quality videos grows and the controls improve. Pros * A couple hundred videos already on different topics - historic reconstructions, sports, nature videos (not recommended as the quality is awful), enthusiast(?) videos filmed at home or filming bands playing from right in front of the stage (240degrees cameras), some Korean and Japanese series specifically made for VR (I think), and a large number of short "sexy" vids showing women sitting 5cm from you...working at "looking pretty". * Subtitles for many of the videos. * Nice, simple UI. * The UI kind of works with Oculus. Cons * Resolution is not 4K (as described), unless maybe measuring it as surrounding the viewer. The devs did just upgrade the resolution on the videos they could, from the previous seeming 480p and lower. It requires more bandwidth, but that's not surprising. Videos that didn't have better quality versions look even worse in comparison, with bad to extreme pixelization issues. The videos that have higher resolution almost never have pixelization issue, but still show heavy blurring, especially of distant or complex objects (clocks, newspapers, billboards). Whether that is from a not high enough filming resolution or the streaming resolution still not being high enough, I can't tell. As they do require more bandwidth, they can stutter and lag from time to time. * The positioning of the camera in quite a number of videos is not optimal. Many videos focusing on a single person are just way too close, causing a distortion of the person, including cross-eyed effects (seeing 3 eyes). Other times the camera is too high (2 meters about a sitting person) or too low (belt-buckle or near-floor level looking up). Hopefully as more experience is gathered in filming surround videos, the positioning will get better. * Some videos are not really 360. They are closer to 120-140 degrees, with a distance lock to the HMD. Turning the head shows empty space, but moving away is impossible as the video follows you. In these videos, when launching the controls, the pointer is also aimed too far. The only way to change the settings is to turn around to the empty space, launch the controls and change things that way. * Subtitles, when there are such, are of differing quality. In some videos they are perfect, in some closer to what you'd get from Google/Bing translate. In some, there are Korean hardsubs. The subs are always stuck at a point a bit (or a lot) below direct sight, locked to the HMD. They are best read when the head is level. Trying to read them while looking down is not comfortable, as the eyes need to point somewhere into yourself. Sometimes, the always white color is hard to see in front of the video. Also, changing the subtitle language in the global menu doesn't change the language in the videos. It has to be change from the specific video's controls. * Few and generic categories, only 6 video images per page, with the titles not showing until the pointer hovers over an image. This makes finding things harder than it should. No way to sort the lists in any way, though at least the current sorting doesn't change. Some videos also appear in multiple categories. * The first full page of videos you're hit with are from the "sexy" category, which are also the 120 degree ones. There seem to also be plans for some kind of payment options, but for-pay videos are currently unavailable and no way to know what will be added there.

MINT VR is a free VR Streaming video player program with currated media. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. I am guessing this is intended for Asian audiences with English added in. The lobby looked ok, was themed as you are sitting on a couch in a living room looking at a large screen. The UI was ok and worked. This program has couple hundred videos on different topics - historic reconstructions, sports, nature videos, enthusiast(?) videos filmed at home or filming bands playing from right in front of the stage (240degrees cameras), some Korean and Japanese series specifically made for VR (I think), and a large number of short "sexy" vids showing women sitting 5 inches from you...working at "looking pretty". There seem to also be plans for some kind of payment options, but for-pay videos are currently unavailable. And there was a section for Adult +19 video that was not available. Update 26 Oct. 2024 = tried this again on my new Win 11 system with both HTC Vive and Index, the devs added a user name and password feature, but if you don't login, i did Not see any videos available to watch. Not sure if the server is down or they locked the videos behind the login. I didn't bother to make an account. Try it, if you like watch videos, but there are better programs than this one.
