Reviews
What? I just bought this game because it has no user review yet? Well yes this and also because I was playing Deep Rock Galactic and I really love mining in games. So how does Mining Odyssey play? Well to be honest it reminded me a little bit of the parkour mechanics in Dying Light 2. You need to jump and swing around in the levels and get enough ore in order to complete a map. Now the controls are really perfect and I enjoy them a lot. I would start a level and immediately search for ore near the start and mine them. I would then jump a little bit higher to find other ores. The combination of jump-boost and grappling hook is really cool and you can control yourself really good. Sometimes you need to do very precise jumps and the controls are so precise that you can do it. And you need to use the jump-boost and grappling hook at the right time in order to make a jump and not fly over your goal. Really really cool! I also like the graphics. They are cartoony and very crispy. In a game where jumping is very important you get a good feeling which jumps you can do and which you can't. Now the only thing that I dislike is this: I jumped around in the levels like a real professional mining Goblin and felt like a real pro. I almost never fell into the lava or in a trap. When you mine the ore you always need to take care that you pick them in the right order or you lose 1 of 3 hearts and if you lost 3 hearts it's game over. Now I really took care to pick the ores in the right order but the game sometimes just wouldn't realize that I only picked the shining ore and would just take all of them and that counts as a heart loss. That is just unfair I took real care there but somehow the game messed it up. I would rather lose a heart when I fall into the lava or in a trap and I think it would be cool if you could somehow gain hearts back. Another thing that I personally don't like is the ticking time. I mean usually it's enough time to gather all the required ore and even if the time starts ticking I pretty quick start to scan for the missing ore but I personally would rather have a motivation to even stay in the same level longer than to finish the level as quick as possible. And last of course some kind of story or I don't know character progression would be cool but I see that this is just a small game. Anyhow the game is very much enjoyable so if you like mining and jumping around in a dungeon and try to mine the right ore you should also try this game out. I had a lot of fun with it and I will try out again if I can make the game see that I picked the correct ores ;-)
