I am having fun with it, but don't get your hopes up for new levels being made. I had this game for about 1 1/2 months and have only seen 1 other person make 2 levels (the game has a lot of older levels though). Also, I have like 3 to 4 people clear the levels I have made [strike] (only can see who has cleared the level and not failed it.) [/strike], and people can't up vote a level until they have cleared it. You can also increase your rank by doing task in other players levels ( kill baddies with a bow, or collect orbs), but the rank doesn't seem to do anything that I am aware of. Good luck trying to get a task done though if players don't use certain things in their levels. Also, the weekly level thing they have going on has not changed from day 1 of me playing. ---------------------------------- Pros: Can do a lot with the level editor (can add invisible triggers to deactivate or activate blocks, change weather, add dialog, ect.) Possible to change it from day, night, "Hell", rain ( but no snow) and other types of weather. Can add tags to levels ( if you clear it) Can follow a ghost in a level of other players ( if they have the setting on. I have the setting on and my ghost does not show up for others so maybe it is bugged?) The platforming seems fine to me other the the vines being a pain Can add the goal to the level anywhere in the main area ( no goal in the sub world) ---------------------------------- Cons: Can only make 10 levels max (unless you can get a dev to increase your map limited) Small player base Not a lot of decorations in the editor. ( it has some, but could use more variety) Not a lot of basic blocks to use (you can switch themes for different types of basic tiles, but you can't mix and match from different themes.) (there is a sub world that can be a different theme from the main world.) Can only rate and tag a level if you clear it. Can't leave comments on a level The auto scroll level function at max speed seems kind of slow Not a lot of songs to pick from Levels have a 10 minute timer max. After 10 minutes you die. This become a problem if you reach a checkpoint because it starts the timer back to when you last touched it. ---------------------------------- TLDR: Game is fun, but has a low player base so new levels are not made often. And you can only make 10 levels max unless you get a hold of a dev to increase max limited. Can do a lot with the editor, but needs more blocks. ---------------------------------- Edit: You can see the number of unique players if you look at the level in the editor.

Great pixel art platformer with good graphics/animations. Excellent sound effects and music. The editor is a joy to use, yet powerful with what it can do to create adventures/levels.
Delivers what it promises
Developers are de-listing the Game from Steam, and shutting down the servers tomorrow (01/10/23), meaning the Game will be unplayable from now on. Apparently the Game didn't sell enough for them to afford to keep paying for the servers to host the user created levels... If only there was a free alternative that Steam offered for hosting user created content, that Developers cloud use for free instead of paying their own servers... Sad. This game was cool too. R.I.P

Soy un gran fan de Mario Maker y un amigo me enseño este juego un día, nos pasamos una tarde cojonuda creando y haciendo el gilipollas y luego tambien probando los niveles. Ahora me lo he pillado para poder jugar también en mi casa.
(Review originally written for www.gamesfreezer.co.uk) Playing like an Indie version of Mario Maker (MM) with a fantastical ancient Greek theme, Million to One Hero (MTOH) adds a twist on things by also throwing in the ability to add a narrative to your tale, something which works well and adds depth to your created adventures. It's going to be hard to not mention Mario Maker throughout this review as it is clearly such a touchstone for Over The Top Games' title. Effectively split into two halves, MTOH has a fully functioning platforming side complete with a story as well as the ability to play one of the hundreds (and growing) user-created stages which range from gentle and casual to twitch-tastic. There is also the creation side which is surprisingly easy to pick up, I designed a couple of levels within minutes and they were fun to play though with friends (the game supports up to four-player local co-op, which is VERY cool. The sense of humour that runs through the game works with the Greek theme, Epicus is the main character and has the usual wall climbing, slashing and air-dash abilities you'd expect in a motion-propelled platform game and traversing the game world is fun. I especially liked the ability to add 'cinematics' and dialogue between the characters to give your own style to the adventures that you create. You can add dozens of traps, pick-ups, golden orbs (the MTOH version of coins) and switch-based puzzles (there's an advanced section of the creation engine that delves deep into more complex puzzles) and you can alter the zone and music to one of the six in-game tracks to suit the mood of your level, whether it be an underwater stage; leaping across crumbling platforms in the sky or a dark dungeon area. The only thing I noticed that you can't alter at all are the character sprites as well as providing your own music (although the developers are constantly adding tweaks and so this could be changed in the future, although I'm not sure). You'll see a lot of the functionality here that is in MM from online leader-boards for speedruns to highest voted levels and super-challenging runs that will push your skills and patience to the limit. I'm honestly shocked at how fully-fleshed out and well-designed Million to One Hero is, the game play is sheer pixelated fun and the creation engine means you can really do a lot with what is on offer. A great way to dive into making your own levels and if you do, please feel free to share them with me as I really do find the ability to create dialogue and a through-narrative a nice twist on the genre, you should definitely check out the free demo if any of this gets your creative / platforming juices flowing. Right, I'm off to have an 'Epicus' adventure.
