«Million to One Hero»
SUPER MARIO MAKER BUT THE PC VERSION
Would you rather watch than read? Me too. Check out the highlights of the gameplay here: https://youtu.be/jBk8ADq5bDM Million to One Hero is basically Super Mario Maker but for the PC. I hadn't ever heard of this game before today, and I am glad I did. For those of you who don't have a Switch it's an EXTREMELY acceptable subsitute for that console and game. The levels that you can play just in the game itself are fun, but everyone knows the real fun is when you play levels made by other, very mean players. I got a few stages that hadn't had any records set yet and was the first (WORLD RECORD HEYO!) but that's just because they were brand new. I'd highly recommend more people pick up this game as it's just a lot of fun, and for 15$ it's hard to go wrong with near infinite level creations by others. tl;dr - Do you enjoy the idea of challenging yourself to other player's levels? I Don't write a lot of reviews, but I noticed that this game has barely any reviews, though all its reviews are positive. It is a shame that such a sweet game like this has been out for some time, and it has barely any recognition. So I am writing this review to help it get the recognition it deserves. The gameplay is smooth, well done, and controls are easy to pick up difficult to master... everything a good game needs. Reminds me a lot of Battleblock Theatre, but a little less forgiving since dying actually costs lives. The creator mode is better than Battleblocks because it has way way more customization options. There is no reason that this game isnt 'Overwhelmingly Postive" besides the fact that it just has too few reviews. Hopefully this helps.
Million to One Hero is a great platformer. They've done a really good job of it and you gotta check out the video to see what it's like. As you pickup coins in the game you earn extra lives which I thought was a really good feature. I did experience one problem though, apparently I was given 10 minutes to complete the level or I die and spawn at the last checkpoint. The problem was I hit my last checkpoint at 9 min 55 seconds. I had to restart the whole level because I kept loosing my lives but it wouldn't let me restart the level and I had to restart the whole tutorial phase which is three levels. That aside it is really a great platformer and you really should take a look. Take a look at my Let's Play to see what it's like...... https://youtu.be/-iCzRbXZpqU Check'n Games, providing you with as many Let's Play's as we can. Thanks for watching. Another underrated lever editor platformer, Million to One Hero hits a great balance of fun platforming and adventure-based story. While the editor can take a bit to learn, it has a few key additions that separate this game from other level editors, such as NPCs and dialogue. It also features an adventure creator, where you can string multiple levels together to make a larger story. As is, Million to One Hero is a solid level editor game, and while it could use a bit more work to make it great, it is certainly one worth checking out and I heartily recommend it.
Great game for those that love speedrunning, secret hunting, platforming and level building. Lots of tools to muck around with and can get some truly satisfying setups. The editor allows for some lite stories, kaizos, classic platformers and much more.
Es ist soooo witzig, ein Jump&Run Retro Game was man lieben muss. Ich bin begeistert und kann es nur weiter empfehlen. Aber vorsicht, Rage-Gefahr :D 7/10
It's kind of hard to imagine the thought process that led an extremely niche indie dev team to develop and pay for the expenses of an online-only game the entire premise of which doesn't even require an internet connection in order to work, but simple file sharing. Pros: + good music. + good combat and overall mechanics, + challenging challenges. + high scores & weekly feats. + has level editor. Cons: - characters most likely will not be voiced. - still in development (needs more levels/adventures). - expensive. - crashes to desktop occasionally. - single player forces keyboard controls, -always online requirement.
If you are familiar with tough platformers and love them then Million To One Hero might appeal to you. The story begins with Chronos, The God Of Time, breaking the fourth wall letting the player know of grand adventures of old. He basically explains that this game is a retelling of one of the heroes which you will be controlling for the rest of the game. The graphics are made up of tiny sprites but the bulk and main reason to play this game is the platforming. Gameplay consist of, running, jumping, wall jumping, dashing. attacking with swords and other equipment like bows and shields that double as a glider. Enemies, hazards, and puzzles are abundant. The big gimmick of this game is that the levels/adventures are created by the community. Similar to Super Mario Maker, if you want to, you’ll be placing platforms, enemies, vines, buttons, flexing your creativeness. Or you could just jump in every now and then to play the top voted levels or set stages. The game plays well and it’ll be interesting to see what game designer enthusiast will come up with. Overall, it’s not a bad game. Give it a try! [Disclaimer: I received Million To One Hero for free. This review/preview is for the first 20-40 minutes of the game.
