Metori

A very cute and fun game!! Reminds me of galaga, except it has it's own unique and fun gameplay <3 Made by an awesome person who takes time and devotion to make his games the best!

Great game. A little simplistic and short for my taste, but a lot of content.

Metori appears at first to be a simple ripoff of Asteroids (copyright Atari 1979), but there's more to it. There's a strategy/management element to the game where you can take over bases, and give general directions to AI controlled units. There's different kinds of fighters you can buy, and even miners that will autonomously mine the archetypal asteroids for minerals (which you use to buy more fighters). And you'll need to because there's plenty of enemy AI trying to take you down. Welcome additions of depth to an otherwise obsolete game format aside, it's important to bear in mind it's not 1979 anymore. Games need to meet the typical expectations of todays gaming platforms. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel/minimalist line "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. The resolution can be adjusted thanks to the default Unity launcher, but this just scales the minimalist assets up and down, it doesn't improve the poor visual quality. Metori is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the poor quality visuals in the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. If you really want to play Asteroids, it's free in web browsers and on mobile phones, so paying money for an Asteroids clone on Steam isn't necessary.
