About

Metal Heads is solo developed, crazy multiplayer party game with head-banging metal music, where up to 8 players compete in mini-games and board game modes with a whole lot of insane mini-games that are easy to play, but difficult to master.
Run, jump, dodge or use your memory to survive in the 20 mini-games currently available, with more to come!
Invite your friends over for some good old fashion local multiplayer fun for up to 8 players!
And if you don't have enough players and want more to join? Couch vs Couch multiplayer is supported!
You can play solo, and eventually will be able to play against bots so nobody misses out on the fun.
Tired of LUCK determining who wins? Tired of certain gameplay elements ruining the fun? I sure am!
So spin the movement wheel, then manually control your character to RUN, JUMP, and avoid hazards on your way to your destination; Get the collectibles, take risky short-cuts, buy items, place traps and obstacles at the shop to try and stop your opponents from winning, but don't make it too difficult for yourself!
Customize the board game rules with extensive customization options, play the way YOU want to play, or complete something that is completely broken.
HOORAY! YOU WON THE BOARD GAME! You get a........BOSS BATTLE!?
Inspired by classic 3D platformer bosses, the winning player will become a boss with their own set of skills and abilities to try and defeat all of the other players in a 1 vs ALL boss battle.
Players will need to use the environment, or wait for a window of opportunity to defeat the boss.
This battle will decide if you really are the ultimate metal head.
It can't be called "Metal Heads" if there's no metal music, so the extremely talented Andy Gillion, of Mors Principium Est, Neverafter and Arcade Metal fame has created the head-banging, face melting, energetic music for each and every single mini-game. PLUS extended tracks for each mini-games alternate/survival/chaos mode.
Metal Heads music is 100% original to the game.
(DISCLAIMER: Music is also DMCA FREE! Which means you will not be hit with copyright strikes while playing the game on a stream or video)
I love party games, ALL of them, I don't care for competition, I just want to play them all, so it is great that I can create my own party game and add what I want to it, whenever I want.
This means that after Metal Heads releases on PC, this is a rough idea of what I want to do:
More mini-games. Eventually the plan is to have over 50 mini-games. There's 20 available right now, but many more already in the works.
Character customization. Head accessory customization is coming soon (as of August 2026), with even more customization to come later, including planned boss customization.
More board-game maps. More is better, I love variety, and I know you do too, so I plan to make many more board game maps.
Board-game maker. There is already a prototype version, but this won't be available for a while.
MORE METAL. For every mini-game created, a new music track comes with it. The plan is for Metal Heads to feature some of the most talented metal artists in the Metal music industry.
The Metal Heads demo currently supports both OFFLINE AND ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, and has a small taste of some of the mini-games available in the full game. And if you can't get any friends together, that's ok, these mini-games can be played solo.
The demo does not contain all features yet, and like all games, it has dreaded, nasty, squirmy bugs, so please, do not give up if you run into one, head on over to the support forums, you may find a solution to a problem, but if not, you will not be ignored.
This isn't a sell point, but transparency is important.
Metal Heads is developed by one person, who works a day job and has the same struggles and hardships that most people have.
Metal Heads does not have a publisher to fund development, so it is worked on in my spare time between my day job shifts.
The more I work on Metal Heads, the more polished it becomes, the more content it has, the more likely people will play it, and the higher the chance of success in the long run.
Development is a slow grind, but this is a passion project, and my first real foray into the games development industry, failure or giving up is not an option, I will continue working on Metal Heads until the goals for the game are met, and will probably still work on it afterwards.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON METAL HEADS?:
THERE ARE 2 PEOPLE:
Nathan Francis (Developer; hard to believe, but I do the 3d modelling, animations, UI, voices, SFX...everything! Except the music)
Andy Gillion (Musical Genius behind the incredible original sound track)
WHEN DID METAL HEADS START DEVELOPMENT?:
JANUARY 2017.
It has been on and off in development since then, but since MARCH 2019, development turned full time with 12-16hr days compared to the previous 4-8 hour weeks. And I relied on my day job in retail/sales to fund the project.
Andy GIllion started working on music for Metal Heads in late November 2019 and has easily been the best addition to the development.
WILL METAL HEADS COME OUT ON CONSOLE?
Metal Heads would be perfect on console, so Nintendo Switch, Xbox and Playstation releases are planned for the future, but not solidified. There is currently no ETA for any console release, but you will be notified when it will be available.
WHY DID YOU MAKE METAL HEADS?
Metal Heads is a passion project, and something I (Nathan Francis) want to play when my friends come over, or whenever there is a party games night. I enjoy making things and seeing the reaction of others when they see and experience what I have made, especially when what I make, causes people to laugh and have a great time.
I also love party games, it's a great way for friends to get together, and online party games are a great way to meet new friends, however I wanted to create a party game where up to 8 people could play, so that nobody misses out on the fun.
WILL THE DMCA DEMONS STRIKE ME DOWN ON FOR PLAYING THE GAME ON TWITCH OR YOUTUBE?
NOPE! And if they do, contact me immediately and I'll strike those demons myself!

Quite fun just extremely buggy in online multiplayer
8/10 Developer is really dedicated to this game, though you may need 3+ friends for this game to be really fun
I've been helping out with testing the game (the online multiplayer) for well over a year now and i have seen a lot of improvements with it so far and it has come a long way since Pax Aus 2019. The game itself is great fun online (yes there are issues but it is early access and what early access game doesn't have issues) and even better when playing locally with friends. There are plenty of mini-games to play as well as a bored game mode that allows you to place items on the map to hinder others or yourself if you aren't careful. The game has a solo Dev and Andy Gillion working on the music for the game. If you are a fan of metal music or even party games you would love this game, i can see a lot of good things coming form this games so be sure to try it out.

Very fun minigame style party game with multiple game modes. My personal favorite is the board game mode playing with a large group of friends. Dev is very active on Discord and takes all feedback into account with frequent bug fixes and QoL updates. Highly recommend!
Metal Heads, developed and published by Nathan Francis under Otreum Games, is an energetic and colorful multiplayer party game that brings together frantic mini-games, competitive board game modes, and a pulsating metal soundtrack to create a unique party experience. From the outset, the game positions itself as a celebration of chaotic multiplayer fun, blending the excitement of classic game shows with the intensity and rhythm of metal music. Designed to support up to eight players both locally and online, Metal Heads is an accessible yet challenging title that thrives on fast reflexes, clever strategy, and, importantly, a sense of humor among friends. At its core, Metal Heads offers a diverse range of mini-games that are quick to learn but difficult to master. These mini-games require players to think on their feet, whether they’re racing to complete objectives, dodging hazards, or outmaneuvering opponents in creative and sometimes unpredictable ways. This variety keeps gameplay fresh and competitive, ensuring no two matches feel quite the same. The inclusion of board game elements adds a strategic layer that contrasts with the high-octane mini-games. Players must navigate game boards, making tactical decisions and rolling the dice to advance, which adds an element of luck and planning to the overall experience. This blend of skill and chance creates a dynamic tension that appeals to both casual players and those seeking deeper competition. One of Metal Heads’ greatest strengths lies in its vibrant community involvement and the tools it offers for creativity. Nathan Francis has been notably engaged with players, welcoming feedback and making adjustments to improve gameplay balance and overall enjoyment. A standout feature is the level editor, which empowers players to design and share their own mini-games and board layouts. This capability not only extends the game’s replayability but also fosters a collaborative community where creativity flourishes. The promise of a continually expanding pool of user-generated content is a compelling draw, especially in the party game genre where variety is key to longevity. Visually, Metal Heads is a feast of bright colors and energetic animations, perfectly matched to its metal soundtrack composed by Andy Gillion. The music does more than just set the mood—it actively drives the pace of the game, pushing players to keep up with the rhythm and intensity. This synergy between sound and gameplay creates an immersive atmosphere reminiscent of a high-stakes game show combined with a live concert, making every match feel exciting and immersive. The art style is approachable yet distinctive, with quirky character designs and lively visual effects that enhance the overall sense of fun and chaos. Despite its many strengths, Metal Heads is not without its shortcomings. As an Early Access title, it still faces occasional technical hiccups such as bugs and performance issues, especially during online matches where latency can affect the flow of gameplay. Additionally, while the current selection of mini-games is varied and engaging, some players might find the amount of content somewhat limited, particularly if they are looking for a deeper single-player campaign or more extensive modes beyond the multiplayer offerings. However, the developer’s consistent updates and community-driven approach suggest that these gaps will likely be addressed over time. Overall, Metal Heads is a highly entertaining multiplayer party game that delivers a fresh take on competitive mini-games by combining them with strategic board elements and a killer metal soundtrack. Its fast-paced, chaotic gameplay is ideal for players looking to enjoy lighthearted competition with friends, whether locally or online. The game’s commitment to fostering player creativity through a robust level editor and community engagement positions it well for future growth. While it may currently appeal most to fans of party games who enjoy frenetic multiplayer experiences, Metal Heads shows strong potential to become a standout title in its genre with ongoing development and expanded content. Rating: 7/10
I played with friends and finding a created server didn't work so you would have to re-search until it came up. Controls sluggish or controller did not work with the game (only worked for 2/6 of us). One friend was brought to the main menu after a mini game without any pop-up window for an error and couldn't rejoin the game. This game is SO buggy. It was funny how they call out bugs like how keyboard may not work and in the board game mode you may have to alt+F4 out, but there are just too many problems ATM. I can understand early access games having bugs, but in my experience it wasn't even playable. I DO think this game has potential and I am really looking forward to it being polished up, but at the moment it isn't playable and therefore I can't recommend. Once updates have been done and it's out of alpha I will update the review. I'm looking forward to playing this. Soundtrack is fun and I can recommend that.

What a game, It look like work in progress but i absolutely love the game. It's fun and enjoyable playing with mates on party games night. This is different from any other party games i have played and the music, OMG it's awesome music. Does go well with the game.
