The game has been abandoned by the dev. This isn't so much an issue with content or variety (though it desperately needs more of both) but of incompetent balance in difficulty tiers. For many characters, if you do not get enough movespeed or jumps, your run will just end about 3-4 minutes in (especially in desert) Why? The boss often will spawn beneath you, and without enough movespeed, will nearly kill you outright just from phasing up through the ground. Then all the bosses spam projectiles and ground AOEs, where if your MS isn't enough, you /cannot/ dodge. And it's made even worse because there's a selection of normal enemies who have increased movespeed, and if they spawn before you get enough +movement (Or some flavor of CC), you can't outrun or kite them so you just die. This isn't an issue for all characters because the better characters either have enough base movespeed to, you know, function. Or they start with a weapon that nullifies this issue. But the simple fact that a huge part of the roster instant fail unless they get enough of an RNG stat, through no fault of the player, encapsulates Megabonk's core issue. An issue that will not be fixed because the dev ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off with their buckets of money.
This game preys on the same pleasure centers of your brain as slot machines and other intentionally addictive intermittent reward distributors. If you have a good run or a bad run has practically nothing to do with your gameplay and everything to do with the RNG. Don't believe me? Go look up 'megabonk afk gaming' on youtube. They literally realized that the game depended so solely on RNG that they added a tongue-in-cheek challenge calling it out. Really unpleasant 'lol so random' tone of writing and intentional retro graphics just highlight how desperately these guys wish they were vampire survivors. But creativity is expensive, and this game is ten dollars.
Second Time the Dev has just Dipped from a game with no Communication. I cannot in good faith recommend.
i like this game quite a lot for some time, but well, it's not getting updated and it gets really boring. danidev you cant run away from a game like you did with karlson or muck, otherwise give your rights to your games to some other game company!
dev abandoned the game for no reason

frustrating and I cant stop playing
