Medieval war simulator RTS is a fairly basic asset flip from DIG Games, who got their hands on someone else's asset flip... so they're trying to convince you they made this game that was really made by someone else, and that other person didn't make the game either, it's an asset flip cludged out of other people's game assets and what looks and feels like incredibly clumsy vibe coding from ChatGPT. This "RTS" plays exactly like what you would expect an AI slop hallucination to play like... utter clunky garbage. There's no evidence that this was vibe coded, but we at least know this is a low key asset flip because the developer included some vague credits (which don't tell you which assets they used from which stock asset suppliers). Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests (it's not clear who is credited for which assets). And of course, the majority of the game was made out of other people's assets... nothing here was truly the creation of the "developer". "Medieval war simulator RTS" is just a low key asset flip.. the quality of the sometimes mismatched looking assets is suspiciously much higher than the actual game is, and that's a glaring mismatch. Who's going to create a bunch of high quality assets and then phone in the actual game? It doesn't add up... unless you consider how easy it is for anyone, even people unqualified to make games, to get any and all the game assets they want. The game is essentially a kitbash of assets made by other people, poorly assembled by an amateur developer. These projects are usually rushed through Steam Direct as fast as possible, and the lack of professional standards means the end result is something no gamer should waste their time on. This is supposed to be a medieval RTS, but it barely works, it's clunky, and a lot of features are there but don't do anything... like your "King" has wood and stone? These don't get used or spent on anything. They're just there... why? Makes no sense. See why I have these suspicions about the game being AI slop vibe coding? DIG Games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. So we have the problem of pixelcrap "art", but it gets worse because not all of the game visuals are using consistent pixelcrap. If there's one thing you could hope for when developers insult gamers with pixelcrap, it's authenticity, and they failed at that. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. Those technical flaws drag this game well below the minimum quality standards expected of a modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. It's important to note that, despite this being such a low quality product, there's a number of positive reviews that all appeared immediately after the game launched, from suspiciously inactive Steam accounts that have reviewed almost no other games apart from this. This kind of asset flipping isn't harmless. It makes it harder for gamers to find genuinely made games from ethical developers. It makes it harder for genuine indie developers, who put hard work into trying to make real games, to find an audience for their products. It gives indie developers a bad name. Let's talk about price and what this asset flip is actually worth. Is this significantly better than any of the 140,000+ genuinely made games on Steam? Of course not! Medieval war simulator RTS is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
A solid medieval RTS with deep strategy, large-scale battles, and satisfying base-building. The unit variety and tactical depth make each battle engaging, but the AI can be inconsistent at times. Graphics and sound design create an immersive medieval atmosphere, though some UI elements feel clunky. 4/5 Stars
Not an RTS, not even a real game. It does not function.
just a lil funky but awesome sauces
