Maximum Football is a free to play American football game that tries to give me both college and professional football in one connected experience. I can build teams, play matches, customise my football universe and work through longer career modes. It is clearly aiming to give players an alternative to the bigger licensed football games, and I like the amount of control it gives me over how I want to play. The actual football is probably the most important part for me. The game uses physics based gameplay with an emphasis on player movement, collisions and making plays myself. Passing, running and defending can be enjoyable when everything works properly, and the ability to play either solo or multiplayer gives me plenty of flexibility. The customisation is one of the game's biggest strengths. I can create teams, change uniforms and logos, edit rosters and even modify league sizes and rulesets. I really like that level of control because it lets me build a football universe that feels different from the default setup. For someone who enjoys creating their own teams and competitions, there is a lot to experiment with. Dynasty Mode is another major feature. I can take control of a college program, recruit players, develop their abilities and manage the school over multiple seasons. I can also handle things such as stadium and facility upgrades, so the mode is not just about playing individual matches. There is also a professional Franchise Mode, and the two modes can connect so college players can eventually move into my professional roster. The biggest weakness for me is the overall polish. While the game has improved considerably since its Early Access period, the experience can still feel rough compared with the established football games. The Steam rating is currently mixed, with about 60% of all reviews positive, and recent reviews are more negative, which suggests that some players are still running into issues. The monetisation is another thing I have mixed feelings about. The base game is free, but some of the larger Dynasty and Franchise experiences require separate Premium Access purchases. There are also several paid packs and passes available, so while I can get into the game without paying, the complete experience can become considerably more expensive than the initial free price suggests. I also think the game is strongest when I focus on what makes it different rather than expecting it to completely replace the biggest football simulations. The customisation, connected college-to-pro concept and flexible league creation are genuinely appealing, while the gameplay and presentation still have areas that could use more refinement. The Unreal Engine 5 presentation gives it a solid foundation, but the mechanics need to be consistently polished to match the ambition. Overall, Maximum Football is an ambitious free football game with a lot of interesting ideas. I really like the ability to customise almost every part of my football universe, build a college dynasty and eventually connect it to a professional franchise. The rough edges and premium access system hold it back, but the foundation is strong enough that I can see why it appeals to players looking for something different from the usual football games. Rating: 7.8/10
fun game and has a decent enough amount of content even before you engage with microtransactions.
Game had a great start and showed lots of potential. However, the developers recently bent the knee to Madden MUT players and have devoted their energy to MPL, which is the TEMU equivalent of MUT that "Maximum Football" has to offer. Football fans supported your game for the gameplay and customization, not so they can crack packs of generic players nobody gives a damn about. Gameplay has also recently been filled with a badly designed, screen clogging badge mechanic and star players who literally leave a sparkle trail. Both "features" completely destroy immersion into what was supposed to be a simulation football game. Free-To-Play version is there but, unless you really need Dollar General MUT in your life, don't give these people any money.
REALY GOOD BUT ITS CAN BUG TO BE A RED ONLY RED BUT FUN
really fun it's basically free madden get good at this before spend 69.99 on new versions of madden
I wouldn’t say this is the worst, but I can’t say it’s the best either. I think it’s decent, but there have been a few issues in the latest updates. I’d say this game isn’t for me anymore. I was actually looking forward to seeing how it developed, but it turns out… never mind.
Taking our money and not fixing the game always a error can't enjoy the game.. 19.99 for what.
