Match Three Pirates II

It's very clunky and unpolished. Overall very mediocre. It's a pirate-themed match-three game. The levels have different objectives to achieve, and with the gold earned from these levels, you build a theme park. There's three difficulty levels which add a move limit, pests and skulls that spread depending on which one you choose. Having beat over 40 levels, I started feeling a sense of monotony quite early, and I have yet to find out how many there are. The levels look okay at first, but felt unremarkable to play. Apparently you can't replay levels once you finish them. Combining special tiles feels overpowered, considering that it's not about reaching a certain score, but rather about destroying specific tiles. Some levels become way too easy when abusing said mechanic to nuke the entire board (by combining row clears and color bombs) for a pretty much instant clear. This results in a very strange difficulty curve (or rather, a difficultv roller coaster) that depends on how easily you can combine special tiles in this level. Some mechanics, like the tiki masks and other tiles that are destroyed by matching nearby tiles, don't work properly, at least how I saw it. When you match tiles next to several of them, not all get hit for some reason. I'm not sure if this is by design, but it is not fun to see some unharmed tiles when, to the player's understanding, they should have been affected. About the theme park that you try to build, aside from some unlockable boosters, it is purely decorative if I'm not mistaken. During gameplay, tiles fall down rapidly. It's really disorienting, especially with the uncontrollable combos that are bound to happen in pretty much every match-3 game. At least it's better than incredibly slow match-3 games by a long shot. Visually, this game is nothing special. It's okay for what it is, but that's about it. The island, however, could have looked more alive. The music is kinda meh. It gets repetitive really quickly, mostly because it has nothing to do with what happens in the game. Whether you are in a level or in the overworld, it just carries over and shuffles through a few tracks. This is probably the main reason why the game felt so boring to me. There's also some ambient noise going on, but it doesn't loop very smoothly and sounds really choppy because of that. You hear some waves splashing back and forth, then it cuts off briefly and you hear different wave sounds. Also, it's overpowering the rest of the audio. It's horrible, but luckily, you can turn it down in the settings with some unlabeled sliders. Lastly, the sound effects. Some are okay, but others range from just annoying to ear rape. not that the sound itself is too loud or obnoxious, but destroying several skulls with a row clearing tile layers all the skulls' sounds together for a horrible experience waiting to happen. I got this game from a free giveaway, but I don't recommend this game. It's hard to convince myself into finishing this game.
