Match Point

This is a minimalist 2D local multiplayer pong/platformer hybrid. Instead of moving the paddle around normally, you move and jump like a platformer, smashing into the ball to propel it. While the game plays smoothly, there's no single player, the game requires console peasant childrens toy controllers, and the minimalist graphics are an eyesore. The developers want $14.50 for this, which is roughly the same price as you can get Rocket League, a real game with proper 3D graphics and a huge multiplayer scene, so this whole thing is a bit of a joke and impossible to recommend.

This is a modern take on the classic arcade and home console game pong. They spiced up the gameplay a lot. The game gives you a good handful of new moves and some fun game mods but the game has a few problems. No singleplayer only local multiplayer needs a controller and while the game is changed up a lot it is still a 10 eur. pong game from 2018. So a pretty good modern pong game if you can overcome the problems listed but do wait for a sale.

Nobody in their right mind is going to pay the asking price at time of writing. £7.19? Hell no. Any amount of money is a rip of for this. 2 player only. It's basically just pong with a few minor edits. Maybe this is worth like 1p? This is the sort of thing I would expect to find for free on NewGrounds of itch.io

(Most of my time on this game has been spent on the non-steam version and the beta.) This is a great couch multiplayer game that anyone can get into. The game has a strong visual identity and is also enjoyable to watch as a spectator. The developer even has a bracket system to add to its competitive edge. The game also has some interesting quirks such as wall sliding, slow falling, fast falling (like smash), and the satisfying charge up tether pull kick move. The only real issue I've had when I've played with other people is the lack of CPU opponents and no online. Otherwise the option to customize the game rules is great and allows you to create some crazy game modes. Again if you have some people over (even if they don't play games much) you can adjust the rule set so it's not overly complex for casual players to understand. The built in tutorial is very carefully designed too so that anyone who picks up the game for the first time can understand it's base mechanics easily. If you're into couch local-multiplayer games, this is a must have.

This game is p fun and challenging and stuff. However, the devs use special hacks to beat you at their own game. I say 9/10 with that one flaw.

Got this game in the yogcast humble bundle. It looks like a lot of fun after playing through the tutorial ... Unfortunately in our house the pc isnt connected to a tv so co-op is not possible. I would love to have this game on our xbox though. This would be heaps of fun to play with the kids.
