This is a really nice baseline for a game, and I'd love to see it expanded upon. More factions and zones with interconnected relationships, etc. Main cons are that currently it's a bit repetitive with not much variation in site, and there are major resolution errors. full screen doesn't work correctly, and the only resolution supported is 1920x1080. For me this isn't suitable to the entire bottom info bar is blocked off.
Casual & pretty easy to pick up & play with just mouse control. Even though the gameplay is fairly simple, it gets very addictive & fun. My only issue with this game is that I wish I could keep track of what is my accepted mission without having to dock to see it.
This game is quite simple and there isn't much gameplay. You can play the whole game with just the mouse. Despite this, however, I found this game mesmerising and addicting. Essentially the game is like a very simplified 2d elite dangerous. It has good music and ambient sounds, along with simple but nice looking graphics. I think this game has potential but it needs to have a few things ironed out. -Separate move and attack buttons. Its so annoying trying to dock in a station and accidentally shooting at another ship docked there. It would also add some skill to the game to be able to shoot without a target so you could lead your shots against enemies. This could easily be done by having left mouse be move and right mouse be attack. -More systems and factions. As it stands there really isn't enough variety to factions when factions are quite unique for these sort of games and thus the main selling point. -More ship customisation like engine upgrades or energy regen upgrades etc. As it stands there isn't really much strategy to designing a ship other then getting expensive ships with expensive guns. -Less reason to fast travel. As it is, there is no reason to try to hang around in a system when fast travelling is practically instant. In elite dangerous, it still takes time to fast travel, just not as long. A similar system might work well with this game. -Fixing weird inconsistent lag when docking or warping. I can run the game fine at 144fps but sometimes the game grinds to a halt for 15 seconds or so. Weird thing is it only does this sometimes. -Changing market prices. Most runs will consist of going back and forth between 1 friendly system which you can sell cargo for a lot, and a hostile system for kill quests. As it stands right now, there is no reason to sell cargo ever at a $2 per cargo station vs $6 per cargo station since the prices never change. It could also help with the staleness of going between 2 good systems being the ideal strat. -There needs to be a pause/system menu. The game would benefit greatly from being able to check your mission or your relationship with factions without having to go to a port. -Fix to the weird resolution. As it stands, fullscreen still has the title bar at the top so the bottom of the screen gets cut off. On top of that, there also doesn't seem to be any options for width smaller than 1920 for some reason at least on my end. -More content in general. More ships. more weapons and more missions. This will come with time but It's still worth mentioning. Its just that as it is the game runs out of content in 7 hours, and it really doesn't have much replay value besides as a mind number game to play while you're doing something else. Being a 1 handed game helps in this regard, at least. Despite all these problems, the game is still fun to play for a while. If the problems get fixed I could definitely see this being one of my favourite games, however.
It's a kinda neat tech demo I guess, with ships flying all about, doing stuff on their own and hardly interacting with each other or you. Occasionally members of opposing factions will pick fights with each other, and their allies will stay out of it. Space stations are gigantic and nothing you do has consequences on the fate of the galaxy as a whole. The actual gameplay consists of either: picking fights with rocks that sit there; picking fights with ships that you have a small and kinda nice chase battle with, but it's pretty much the same each time; or picking fights with ships that are too large and blow you up. Repeat 30 times in order to make enough money to get a stronger weapon that behaves basically the same but does a bit more damage.
There is potential. After 5 hours of play there didn't seem to be anything left to do. Both factions were as far as I can tell maxed out on their offerings to the player. The names of the sectors were disappointing and seemingly random drivel. I was surprised that there was basically an ad for another game during the loading screen between sectors. The controls are simple, the weapons you can equip will never miss but you can dodge enemy fire. The money return on farming asteroids makes it not worth the time compared to just sector hopping and handing in transport quests. Get 2 to 9 credits per ore, or just warp to a different sector for $5,000. Combat quests don't seem to have any real consequence either. You kill X faction ships and just sell their remains back to them and both factions end up higher than you started. Overall, I give this game a 3 of 5 stars. With development it could be a whole lot better.
Believe me, I would love to give this a thumbs up but I can't. It has the bare bones of a space sandbox but only the barest of bones. The only things you can do is mine / destroy other ships & take their cargo and get money painfully slowly or do missions (missions = mining 100+ ores for a station, destroying a ship or a few, or going from station to station) but that's not much faster either. There's not enough to justify really any price, It's a neat tech demo but it's got nothing at all going for it past that.
Game offers nothing but dig for ore, kill (if you want to or forced by situation or mission says so), upgrade and fly around. Oh and increase faction standings just because you need it to see better wares they can offer (critical to upgrade your ship). If you like simple grind, then this game is for you. But if you want more or diversity in game play... then too bad this game offers nothing. No story telling, no variety of people, no world to save, no base to build, no 3rd party mayhem (pirates, alien etc.).. nothing. Just grind for upgrade. Once you have biggest ship and got biggest gun you can buy, then you have done everything.
Awesome little space game. It's nice and fast to open up and get into with a casual slightly retro classic-space-game playstyle. Mine for resources, transport people from sector to sector, hunt down enemy ships for bounty, buy a bigger ship with bigger guns for the money you've made etc. Controls are fluid and very easy to pick up. All of that in a calm, atmospheric setting with great visuals and great music. Highly recommended. Especially considering the price!
Fun little game once you start playing it. The only thing I would change is add a couple more mine able types of ore in the game to give it a little variety.
Very chill game, fun and the npcs make it feel very active and alive.
