Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

Great game from start to finish. Everything from web-slinging to combat is great, they really nailed the way a Spider-Man game should feel. Story is solid with a few slow moments that are easy to look past and there's tons of Spideys enemies to beat the snot outta. Lots of cool collectibles and alternate suits that grant different abilities in and out of combat and a NG+ and unlockable difficulty to keep you comin back.

Unfortunately the performance is so inconsistent and poor that the game is unplayable for me. I bought it assuming it would work fine, as my computer far exceeds the recommended requirements and the game is verified on Steam Deck so I assumed Linux would not be an issue. However, whatever settings I try, whatever Proton layers I've tried, nothing causes the framerate to be consistent enough to be playable. I'm not talking about, "I can't get 240 FPS" consistent. More like, "can't stay above 30 on low settings" consistent. I'm not able to refund at this point since I've spent 4 hours in the tutorial just trying to fix the graphics settings, so I guess I may as well keep trying. But at the moment... it's another useless game in my library. I would pass on this one.

Having played this masterpiece since its original 2018 launch on the PS4, experiencing it on PC proves that it has only gotten better with age, cementing its place as the absolute best entry in Insomniac’s Spider-Man trilogy.
