Products only move one way along roads. The whole idea broke down during the tutorial. What kind of idea was that? I'm not into it.
Fun little resource management game. The transportation mechanics take some getting used to but add a lot of depth to the game.
Malmyr is a fun but demanding puzzle game! It has some complexity, but the mechanics were well explained in the tutorial missions. Throughout the story, the game has some fun new additions to gameplay which I quite enjoyed. The developers reworked some things since the game was released, making the game even more convenient to new players. If you enjoy puzzles and logic games, I can fully recommend Malmyr.
A puzzle game that takes some getting used to, but once you do it's a very fun and challenging experience. A lot of micro-and macro-management has to be done until you set up perfect production chains, but once you do, it's very satisfying just watching your ressources tick up every few seconds. Very much recommended for fans of puzzle and/or automation games.
I stumbled across this recently, and have been enjoying working through the campaign. I give this a thumbs up primarily because of the enthusiastic and helpful developer responses to questions I had, and I feel I got my moneys worth of entertainment value. These guys deserve some more attention for their efforts. It is a game that I “like” but don’t “love”. Malmyr offers some quite different mechanics to what you would normally expect, though not all of those are necessarily positive things (it is very mouse clicky) and can take some getting used to. Kind of revealing is the lack of a lets play series out there - people tend to bounce off it after a few hours I think. Fundamentally the game is more of a puzzler than a true building game - space is limited and the randomly generated tiles can require some planning before you commit to building. I am hoping to finish the campaign, I am always a sucker for trying to “finish” a game. I haven’t tried the sandbox mode though I may give that a quick shot once I knock off the last two missions, we shall see. I just have too many other games that are begging for my time and this just doesn’t have that magic X factor or depth of strategy tp keep coming back to.
Interesting concept. Though thies game was not for me.
gOOd GamE.
Malmyr is an interesting little gem that I feel stands out amongst various generic puzzle and builder games. The design behind it is a perfect blend of simple and well detailed and is generally pleasant to look at as you play through the levels, combine that with the pleasant and soothing music and you have a perfect game for when you want to sit back and relax while playing a game. It's puzzles are well thought out and will require a bit of work to get right, they aren't too simple but also not designed to make you jump though a hundred hoops for a small hint, the devs of Malmyr found a great balance when designing the puzzles. Lastly one of the things I love the most about Malmyr is the option to go into first person and explore the world you helped to build, walking through the town and discovering all the little notes and easter eggs scattered throughout the levels for those who explore. Malmyr at its most basic is a game that has had so much passion and care put into it and from listening to some of the streams where the creator has talked about the game you can clearly hear how much thought went into this little unique gem.
I played Malmyr both on Windows an Linux Mint (Ubuntu), and it ran really smooth on both systems. Managing the recources and logistics may be a little tricky and you can spend a lot of time trying to optimize your supply chain.
