I quite enjoyed this game. You find yourself outside the gates of the mansion of Dr Arcana, a world famous magician, who disappeared decades ago. Once inside the mansion, you are locked in and have to solve a maze of puzzles. Lovers of the arcane will enjoy the dark elements in this game, especially the gallery of all the witches and warlocks. Some of them were quite horrendous! As you enter each room/portal, you will find that puzzles repeat themselves, but there is plenty of variety to entertain you. There is no physical action, just a hard workout for the mind. The mansion has a deliciously spooky feeling to it and the music sets the mood. The voice of the ghostly vision is well done and its mocking voice follows you around commenting on your efforts. The mix of puzzles kept me entertained and they were quite unique. I only skipped 2 of them and occasionally I got lost in the mansion. As the game progresses, the puzzles become harder. They are doable, so give it a go! There is map in the library which has fast travel, but you don't carry it around with you.....so you have to go back to that one location all the time which was a bit of a pain! There is not much of a story....just bits and pieces that you pick up as you wander around the mansion. I guessed what the ending would be. I certainly hope there is a sequel to this game. A great effort by these devs. Good value for money as it took me 9 hours to do. Recommend for puzzle lovers. 8/10
The Cabinets od Doctor Arcana to pierwszoosobowa przygodówka z ręcznie rysowanymi planszami w gotyckim, mrocznym stylu.
Arcana is a puzzle adventure game that reminded me of 7th Guest and Shivers series. You wander around a mansion full of puzzles and get haunted by evil entities. Positive: - Soundtrack is brilliant, tons and tons of atmosphere - I really enjoyed the puzzles where you need to figure out a certain arrangement of names/locations based on partial clues. In general, puzzles are fun in this game (expcetions noted below) - Game runs very smoothly and navigation is very straightforward. Negative - Certain puzzle types are repeated way too much, I was bored with door unloncking puzzles very early into the game. - The mansion might have benefitted from a more complex architecture/layout. - The game is relatively short, it could have used at least 20% more material. Conclusion: This was more fun then I expected. Definitely give it a shot if you like horror themed puzzle adventures.
Obviously one of the most entertaining puzzle games out there, with gorgeous graphics and an easy intersect. It really exercises all the corners of your mind and the plot though simple is very involved and interesting. I took me longer than 6 hours but I wanted it to last. Hope you have a part 2. Keep up imagining and creating, old minds do need the exercise and the thinking furiously...Thanks Maria
Great game...like you're in an escape "mansion" and you have to solve puzzles to solve the mystery of the house and escape. Great game if you are into puzzle games! Plus, you can't beat Nox Arcana's music!
Really challenging but totally fair puzzles. Killer aesthetic, and fantastic artwork. A bit of busy work at times, but I'd say it's worth it. For the dedicated puzzle-lover.
This game takes you inside the hauntingly beautiful world of Joseph Vargo. His art, music, narratives, and wit are in full display and it's all fantastic! I love this game!
Pretty fun little puzzler, and the atmosphere is excellent. Some of the puzzles are too slow to execute, particularly the scarab one -- there are 13 balls to push into the hole, and only 4 of them require much thought.
This is a great game. Especially if you like puzzles. It took me 11 hours to play. I skipped 4 puzzles, but thoroughly enjoyed this game. Hope they make more like this.
