I've been enjoying mtg arena because the gameplay is excellent and matches are fun. The game is not truly pay - to -win . since you can unlock cards by playing. However, the biggest issue is how long it takes to build the deck you actually want if you don't spend money. Progress as a free- to -play player is very slow, abd just when you finally complete a deck, new sets with hundreds of new cards are released. Then you have to start collecting again, which makes it feel like you're constantly falling behind. overall, it's a great game with amazing gameplay, but the cart economy and the constant release of new sets make it difficult for free- to - play players to keep up.
Long time player in the card shops, finally broke down and tried arena. Skip my response phase? Oh, I should report that as a bug....... Yeah the web form to report a bug auto loads the forum page when I attempt to fill it out. Fine, I'll just assume it was a one off and go back to playing..... AND of course it happens again, passing priority without my consent when I have a response lined up. THIS IS SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE THAN IN PERSON PLAY! NO ABILITY TO CALL JUDGE OR HAVE THE GAME EVENTS QUESTIONS IS JUST A LOUSY WAY TO RUN A GAME! Save your time and frustration and go play in person. Losing because of a badass opponent, a bad shuffle, or just bad playing is something I accept as a magic player. Losing because the 'Arena' software is glitchy and skips ♥♥♥♥ is NOT something I will tolerate.

game is buggy as all hell
Corporate cash grab, Funko Pop slop. They ruined the best TCG in the world for short term profit. Lying to and exploiting their player base along the way.
Corporate woke gambling machine with pay to win as the base game mechanic. This is not a game, this is a program designed to chase whales and annoy them into buying more packs and cards. Genuinely disgusting app.
Wizards of the Coast seriously need to re-evaluate Arena and MTG as a whole. Arena incentivizes wins more than anything in it's rewards systems, leading to both ranked and unranked ladders turning into a endless sea of the top 2-3 meta decks, copy and pasted ad nauseum. You will go entire days or weeks without seeing a new strategy or someone's cleverly executed jank. That's a tragedy. You will spend time working synergies and finding new interactions, crafting something new and exciting only to have it crushed by a tier 1 deck in matchmaking that claims to be weighted. Matchmaking is deceptive and truly stupid. You will waste your time and stifle your quest progress and currency income because of it. The client itself works well to deliver the MTG experience, but features are added a snail's pace. The developers make self-aggrandizing blog posts celebrating the addition of basic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ multiplayer features that most games have been packaging, by default, for over two decades. You will not find community loved formats, such as Pauper, Gladiator, Commander/CEDH, because they don't push players to spend more money. As for MTG: Standard has been a nightmare for over a year and is only getting worse as more and more pushed sets enter the format. Keep in mind that when you play this game, it will not be actively balanced. The leads at Wizards are afraid to ban in any format, let alone Standard -- where aggressive bans should be happening at least quarterly in order to constantly be pushing for a more enjoyable, balanced gameplay experience for all players. Of course, that is just my opinion. The slow and careful approach does not suit the modern MTG (Arena) climate. Stop being afraid to manage your formats. Paper cards are not an investment and the players who treat them as such should NEVER be a part of the conversation when it comes to the Banned & Restricted lists. I hate what Wizards of the Coast have done with MTG. Digital sucks and paper is being gentrified more and more with every year. Maybe things will change... eventually, but not any time soon.
Better off playing paper than this rigged bs
mtg arena deliberately bans cards that protect against the combo cards that make them the most money,, and there's thousands of cards they refuse to add, and now they are copping out and selling everyone else's work like a bunch of sell out types. the game isn't fun at all anymore. thanks wizards of the coast, for ruining magic.
Remembered why I uninstalled years ago. Matchmaking is non-existent. No chance to play fun relaxed silly magic and do some brewing, it's all hyper-optimized meta decks. Until they allow you to customize queueing somewhat this is unplayable if you want to either play without spending money or play without using tryhard decks
its Magic the Gathering.. just.. in video game form.. What else do you want from me?!
