Lame Every game of best of one feels weighted either for or against you. It feels less like a game and more like a lottery for who gets their dopamine hit. It’s sad to see how bad standard feels now, at least on Arena. My advice? Play green or be bored. You’ll still be bored as you’re playing green.
Too many updates Almost every time I open this app it need an update.. I’m not exaggerating. Its freaking horrible
Too much money and feels like work Buy the real cards and play with friends. This game is not relaxing and does not deliver for the amount of money you can easily sink into it. The majority of the formats do not encourage casual play. If you like Magic for the artwork, story, and relaxing play, dump money into actual cards. I am not a hater at all and have played the game for years. Strongly recommend you play another game for relaxing, fun gameplay that is competitive and has beautiful art.
Can’t get into the game It says no disc space available when I have 10 gb or storage
Hand smoother terrible, matchmaking even worse Love the game, love the cards love the art, probably spent $2-3k on cards and skins, but had to delete the app. The hand smoother is disgustingly bad, brawl is a great example of this, you have a 1/100 chance of drawing a card each game in your starting hands themselves mathematically, 1%. You can draw the same 5-6 cards in your starting hand 5-6 games in a row , which makes the odds of that mathematically almost 0. However do to their hand smoother which tried to avoid land flooding it happens over and over. Also the matchmaking not sure how it works but I tend to play against the same exact deck types and cards for hours at a time in ranked and non. The moment the switch my deck, my opponent type changed and the. I play against only those types of opponents for hours lol. Games not getting another $1 out of me. Matchmaking should be random, with people of same or similar ranking, if your going to use a hand smoother fix it so the starting hand always has 3 lands, let the other 4 cards remain completely randomized. Honestly just play irl such a fun game but the app sucks so bad lol thousands of dollars gone oh well
Cannot edit decks Current version spins indefinitely when loading alchemy decks
The game The game
Bots and algorithms Game is always trying to make you spend money no matter what you want to do. Draft, events all game modes except ranked 1v1 will ask for a significant amount of coin( free currency) or gems(real money currency). I noticed first two months I win 60% of time when I bought monthly pass($5) third month I didn’t by and tracked win loss percentage and reason for loss 9/10 losses came from the game’s algorithm to flood my card draw with 6-7 lands in a row at crucial moments in matches turn 4-5 or beyond. Just don’t be surprised when they ask you for 20$ to do a draft event. Also don’t be fooled by how many there are pretending to be people. 2/5 stars could be a amazing game but greed is to strong at MTG…
Seasoned MTG Player Overall the development team has committed to giving people access to one of the most complex games ever created. Mobile support is great for newer phones and there is legitimately good access to multiple different format on the client. As someone who mostly plays the oldest/ eternal formats having access to timeless is a boon. However it is also where most of my issues with the game take place. It is a great way to enjoy the standard and pioneer format. Timeless is having issues with wizards cherry picking what should and should not be allowed while simultaneously refusing to rebalance digital only cards like hydrophonics architect. And despited timeless being a format allegedly "protected by force of will" they have not introduced the necessary counter play cards like Aether Vial to combat a free counter spell that was arguably balanced a decade but has since become ambiguous and overall in my opinion unhealthy after 30+ years of game design. If you like eternal formats like legacy and vintage this is not the client for you as there are only 3 engines in the timeless format being black based dark ritual engine decks, blue based denial/ free counter spell engine decks, and a suprising number of creature based energy engine decks. Overall the eternal support for timeless needs a massive injection of support but it is stuck on a drip feed with an alarming number of cards being upshifted in rarity just in an effort to make them harder to access without spending resources or money. I cannot overstate how bad the upscale and rarity is we do have cards that were that are sold at mythic meaning you'll have to spend $20 to get a play set.
Defies probability and statistics I played MTG for years growing up. I don’t think I ever drew all lands. Or only one land in 15 draws on a deck with a reasonable distribution of lands. Both happen regularly in arena. Usually after I get several wins in a row. Then to keep things even I go on a run of poor draws and get demolished. It’s fun, but the draws are sooo frustrating. Also the server disconnects. Need a button to reconnect. You will lose games because you disconnect from the server.
