MAGIC GUARDIAN is a non-classical tower-defense game challenging you to fight against the Evil forces to protect and save the Soaring Crystals. Why is it non-classical? Because it all happens in VR and YOU are the only defender!

Upon first glance, this game piqued my interest with its potential. However, some aspects of the game must be improved for its enjoyment. Pros: The game presents a promising concept with unique world-building. Guns are effective against both weaker enemies and formidable ogres. The visuals are charming, reminiscent of beloved tower defense games like Dungeon Defenders. Enemy classes are well-designed, and it's evident that thoughtful planning went into their interactions with the game world. Cons: Text Prompts Placement: On the Oculus Quest 2, text prompts are awkwardly positioned too high on the screen and move with your head, making them impossible to read without straining your eyes or taking off your headset. Alchemy Station Issues: The alchemy station, though intriguing, lacks clear instructions and often malfunctions even when the correct sequence of colored balls is entered. Crystal Tracking: The game's numerous scattered crystals are challenging to monitor, often leading to a swift game over scenarios. Basic Controls: The control scheme only allows up and down, left and right, and forward movements. The absence of a turning option renders the game unplayable for wheelchair users and poses challenges for others. Limited Glyph Drawing Location: Specific enemy types, like wizards, necessitate particular weapons or spells to defeat. However, the single location for drawing these glyphs forces players to abandon crystal defense, often resulting in crystal loss during playthroughs. Conclusion: This game undeniably has potential, but it is marred by several issues that need addressing. With improved text prompt placement, more precise instructions for the alchemy station, a better system for crystal tracking, and the addition of a turning option, it could become a much more accessible and enjoyable experience. Moreover, revising the glyph drawing mechanic to avoid compromising crystal defense would significantly improve. Despite the current challenges, I recommend giving it a try, especially since it's available for free. You might have better luck and find the game more enjoyable once these issues are addressed.

the game was fun but the controls are weird and those should be changed and there should be a menu to change controls but overall the game was fun ps there should also be more characters. sincerely, weresmymeth
"Magic Guardian" is advertised as a "tower defense". It is not a tower defense game (the developer doesn't seem to know what tower defense games are). It's a VR tech demo, a wave survival shooter. You don't place any towers, there's little to no strategy element in the game. What do you do in the game? Wave your arms around to draw characters in VR which allows you to "cast spells" that you can shoot at enemies. That's it. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
It realy looks nice and promessing. But I too got the floor problem. But also my hands are far further than they should be. I am hanging outside the basket at the first scene and I can't change it.
