If you grew up playing Micro Machines, this toy-car racer brings back some major nostalgia. The tracks and minigames are pretty fun, and pulling back your car to charge it up is a neat mechanic. That said, the physics feel super floaty, which can make steering a total nightmare at times. It’s a blast for a quick couch co-op session with friends, but the single-player gets boring pretty quickly.
I felt the FEAR downloading this, especially at less than a buck, but... no I am absolutely delighted! As awesome as ever!!! This classic 3D Micro-Machines rival still plays superbly to this day and is as fulfilling as every fibre in my being remembers it. I am so excite! If you dont know, this is a 3D racer using the tiny cars you brummed around in your hands as a 5-year-old, set on domestic scenarios your 5-year-old hands were actually using; tabletops, kitchen lino... you get the drift. But unlike Micro Machines (which is also a truly excellent game) this doesn't just have racing, it has all kinds of fun challenges to complete that still demand speed and driving skills but also adds in crazy concepts like bowling, tag, soccerball. It's like you just bought SuperMarioMonkeyBall+WiiSportsRocketLeague if you remember that excellent release that I just made up. It is just SO satisfying, even on single player. For a 20 year old game, it looks and plays excellently on a modern Steam platform, no faults, no glitches just get in there and race. Without doing so myself I can also assure you 100% that this will be an absolute laugh riot with friends. There are some elements of the power ups and the track designs that are so unforgiving that the bestest friend you ever did have will immediately become troll-face-meme within seconds, and I absolutely love that they really made the competitive element fun and also punishing. I'm so glad this wasn't an nightmare to come back to, it the opposite. It's like being sent to retro heaven but is still looks great and plays slick. Plus it's SO tiny in size that you could boot it up in seconds while not installed if a buddy invited you to a game. Outstanding, even with the nostalgia specs peeled off
Good old fun that still feels pretty cool today. However it really is quite bad to not have a LAN option available (like bruh, online and servers are one thing, but LAN wouldn't require those as one player could be the host over local/hamachi). Remote play is a bit iffy. Overall, might be better to dig up the original CD which had LAN available instead of rebuying it here where you can't even play with your friends in big 2026. Devs plz, that's quite a big disappointment.
No steering wheel support
It's not really worth the full price, but if it's on sale and you have people to play couch co-op with or remote play that are also willing to put up with 2006 jank it's a pretty good time. I'm also biased because i'm part of team "I played this as a kid!". This far I didn't experience any crashes or lags, so i can't complain about performance. I would compare it more to mario party but with cars and items. Roughly half the game is minigames that aren't related to racing (billard, football, throwing stuff off a table for points, bowling, mini golf etc etc). If you are interested in getting it to 100% achievements for Steam, that's fairly easy too.
We need a remaster, Beats forza any day
Racinggame trifft Minispiel Sammlung.
THe game is small but it has some challanges that deliver better than newer car game titles. There are a lot of interesting concepts in the game, alongside the usual timed races and I really enjoy it. The music is really good! A new track per level is really something big but it helps when the track is specified to the environment, at least through the feeling it brings. I haven't played much yet and I don't have people to try multiplayer with but still, this game rocks! 8.5/10
This is the greatest game i've ever played! 2/10.
