the sudden spike in difficulty is so harsh and rediciolous that it kills any kind of joy. the level of frustation is waaayyy greater than the satisfaction of finishing a level.

I agree that the first 5 worlds felt too easy, especially after finishing the last levels of the first one, but they were still fun. World 6, Abyss, is crazy though. I assume it was added later, bc the other reviews don't mention it. Not a huge fan of the Strafe Walking so far, but it's fine. Kind of changes the pace a lot. Only problem I have so far is that once you've set a time, you can afaik no longer see what time you'll need for the third star.
yeah its good, but its kinda dumb making all chapters real easy, and the last one very difficult
I don't usually recommend playing a sequel first, however Lovely Planet 2 is an exception. This game effectively nails down the mechanics of the original, allowing it to feel super smooth & fun. Especially for a Precision Fps, I legitimately have fun playing this! Unlike the original, you can playthrough the entire Main Level-Set without being forced to do anything super Top-Level. The mechanics always feel intuitive and consistent. The game is fair and when I fail, I know for sure it's my fault. Sure it's a simple game with a simple premise, but never the less it's noticeably optimized from it's original. There are some shortcomings though, sometimes you'll die from a bullet that hit you too fast or from out of view. Some tiny bits of level-design is... (; if you know what I mean, usually from the
Red Blobs
. It's certainly manageable & only like a nudge from the dev themself, joking with you every now and then. All in good fun. The Three Completion Stars could've been explained better, but if you're relatively smart you can deduce them quickly. Most of the Achievement Secrets feel unnecessary in my opinion, though they do fit with the vibe of the game. I do also wish there was indication for completing
Hidden Areas, Their Stars & Secrets
for the overworld. Anyway, if you like Precision Fps's don't let the "Happy-Charmey" Look fool you. Lovely Planet 2 is simply A Great Game. The Soundtrack will stick in your head for all the right reasons and match your vibe just right in ways you might not expect. It has a Low Price, Low Storage Size, & Relatively Low Skill to Entry. If you've never played something like this before, I'd be perfectly happy to recommend you start here! Oh btw, there's the Abyss... I'll leave that for you to experience.
(I still haven't beaten a single level in it. It's still fair but... mean. A good kind of mean, but mean. c; )
Note, Lovely Planet 1 isn't bad but it definitely has "One of those hard games" vibes. LP2 feels like you're in good hands though, I'm definitely playing more games from this dev in the future. <3
Yet another Lovely Planet. If you like speedruning type games, or quake, you'll like this series.
buy it
fun lil shooter
