Love in Belarus

Great ideas with poor execution (pardon the pun). Love in belarus is an rpgmaker game about helping a dictator control a legion of peaceful protesters with extreme violence. The trouble with the game is that it is so bipolar. It does so many of the little things right but fails where it counts. Let me break it down. The good: You can have a pet dog and give them alcohol. The game is short, but it is full of content which makes it well worth the price. The jokes are irreverent and fantastic if you understand eastern european political humor. The adult jokes are everywhere, but most of them get pretty dark. Unfortunately, a few of the big audible jokes (recordings of songs, speeches, etc) won't hit home unless you understand russian. Here's the big one: the equipment in the game is full of hidden secrets. Equipment sets like the schoolgirl outfit, the maid set, and the warrior set give hidden buffs in battle. The positives don't stop there. There's a certain character who can use two weapons, and the weapon combos have their own secrets. The hammer and the sickle are the most obvious pair of weapons that give a ton of debuffs to an enemy. The ninja weapons also give debuffs when combined. It's just good design. The game has two endings, so you can even take time to experiment with the equipment sets through each 3-hour campaign. This game has a cameo with Johnny Sins. The guy who basically made brazzers what it is today. Make sure you talk to him twice. The bad: The game crashes a LOT. if it so much as struggles to load a scenery, it will crash the game. It's ridiculous. There is no new game +. The game lets you carry over your equipment, but that also carries over all of your quest items. This locks out the ending area which you need to finish the game due to a bug. All it would take to fix this is deleting the quest items for new game plus, but they couldn't do it. Some of the abilities just don't work. The biggest one is the taunt. Only the main character has any defense to speak of in your party. She is supposed to be able to taunt to keep all of the attacks on her. It doesn't work. My dog died and I'm upset about that. However, that's a small gripe compared to the tech point bug. See, to use your abilities like taunt, you need tech points which you gain by hitting things. Typical rpgmaker fare. You hit to use magic and use magic to power up your hits. Easy stuff. The tech points are bugged so that you will usually start out a battle with none. Tech points do not carry over between battles, and that makes combat take so much longer than it should. There are a limited number of enemies in each objective, and they scale with your level. Normally, this would be totally fine. there's no grinding necessary in a game where level genuinely doesn't matter, right? Not exactly. Limited enemies mean limited money. Limited money means you aren't going to have the equipment necessary for certain areas when you need them. This would be fine if new game plus worked. After all, with a working new game plus, you could finally get the ultimate equipment set: the russian set. Unfortunately, as stated before, new game plus is broken, so you're not getting your fur coat and golden gun. This is especially bad when you consider the first three enemies you fight- the maids. You can technically put off fighting them until the end of the game. However, their stats scale way better than yours. If you put off fighting them until the end, they become a superboss that you need end game equipment to even have a chance against. In the new game plus that doesn't work, they have those stats, meaning the first three fights in the failed new game plus are superbosses. It's not great. This game is fixable and has a lot of heart put into it, but the bugs are just way too prevalent to make it good.

Игра позиционируется как сатира на режим Лукашенко, с элементами политической пародии и абсурда. Но этого мало, чтобы играть больше пяти минут - геймплей просто отвратительный, механики не проработаны, управление тормозное. Ещё и стилистику слили странную - пиксельное аниме с политической сатирой, что выглядит нелепо. Может быть интересна разве что как коллекционный баг, особенно по скидке. Но реально запускать - не советую, лучше потратьте время на что-то стоящее. Да, высмеять диктатора - это смешно, особенно когда смотришь на стариков, которые годами правят и сидят в Европе или США. Всё похоже: один и тот же сценарий, одинаковые речи, только подаётся под разным соусом. Где-то демократия, где-то свободы, где-то зелёные, а где-то «Диктатура», и даже где плюс минус неплохо, то дерьмократия плохая. Мой дорогой друг из Беларусии отправил мне эту игру диском, но он к сожалению не подходил к компьютеру, ведь мы живем не в 20 веке. Потратил он на все про все около 6 тамошних рублей, но из них дошло только 20 (наших). Мой патриотичный товарищ из украинi был восторжен от неё яки свин на огороде капусты и овса. From the first minutes we plunge into the device of the dictator's personal world, and find ourselves in a whirlpool of intrigue and battles. My personal rating is 10/10. Very recommended!

Хороший беззлобный стёб на весьма грустные события. Разные степени гротеска переплетаются между собой в единую кашу, что грамотно скрашивается общей атмосферой придурковатости и изобилием бессмысленных отсылок. Сыровато, коротковато, и развилка происходит слишком внезапно, а сохраниться перед ней надо - ибо перепроходить Вы вряд ли захотите. Но и настроение дарит хорошее, и с точки зрения агитации всё сделано по уму.
