Little Misfortune is another wonderfully weird adventure that manages to be dark, funny and surprisingly charming all at the same time. This Little Lady telling people to go give themselves a f**k, is honestly comedy gold. While it’s not quite as crazy or unsettling as Fran Bow, it has its own unique charm and personality that makes it super fun to play. The graphics are cute and colourful. My only real gripe was having to play through the game twice for some of the trickier achievements. There isn't a huge amount of replayability once you've experienced the story, but that's more of an achievement hunter problem than an issue with the game itself.
Hm what can I say..The game isn't that great really. The "dark humor" was sometimes funny but few of the scenes were just disgusting. But not disgusting in a way "haha he hung himself" but in a way that can be seen as portraying a child sexually.
I'm talking here about the scene when Misfortune rides a horse and the scene where she got stuck in the small window and her buttcheeks just were exposed for no reason. I understand it was supposed to be funny but how? Most of the players are adults or teens so they dont laugh at fart humor anymore. There was no need for that scene.
If it was somehow a methaphor about Misfortune being a SA victim it would be more justifiable. But it isnt. There is no mention or hints about it, its not being talked about in game at all so we can only assume it wasn't the intention. Another reason is I found this game just truly boring. You walk, sometimes can throw glitter or touch few things but thats all. What I did like about this game though, would be the music, surrondings and
the fact that she's been dead the whole game. Her own father being the one that killed her was a huge plus since it made it all a lot more depressing. I also liked the idea of the fox being her spirit guide
I also feel like the choices didn't matter at all but the game and the moment when you had to choose made it look like there would be huge consequences but in reality it wasn't that important. The last thing I feel lacking is the connection to characters. It feels as even though we've been with Misfortune the whole time we dont really know her or her family situation. it would be nice to see more of that side. I reccomend playing it if you got it for free
Its very easy to finish and get badges with. Its a lot of walking, talking, and a few cutscenes here and there. It took me 5.3 hours because I went to the beginning because of one badge but otherwise its alright. shes a weird kid but understandable...I mean look who raised her. its cool to see a game not taking place in America though. also fun fact Fran bow and this game takes place in the same universe and a third game is coming out where they will probably meet.
as much as her personality made me laugh, her innocence made me cry. she reminded me of when i used to be a child and tried to fix things with whimsy as well. such big heart for a tiny body. you're so dear to me, little miss fortune
peak peak peak game!! i love the how cute and funny this game is yet so uneasy and deep. this game is one of these which make you pause and think about what you just experienced
I REALLY wish there was some kind of "neutral review" option on Steam, and I really hate to not recommend Little Misfortune, but the cons outweigh the pros. Pros - Very story-rich for a gameplay-lacking game - Morgo's acting was amazing. His voice sounds about as satisfying as The Narrator from The Stanley Parable (and that's a compliment btw) - The music was amazing and felt right for the environment. I would save to a playlist. - Misfortune was adorable. She's a little lady, you know? - Misfortune's home life hit my heart hard, especially as someone who came from a similar home life as her. - The "Knock Knock" scene scared me actually. Cons - Severely lacking in gameplay. Even with the minigames, it really felt more like a visual novel than an actual game. Hell, even visual novels have more gameplay. The rhythm game in the strip club was a pain in the ass to do since every correct note shook your screen, and the Whack-a-Fox game felt repetitive. - Story hyped itself up and for what. Parts of it confused me so badly that I had to go to Google to understand what I was even looking at. And even though I basically knew everything afterwards, the story barely carried itself. It has to be backed up by fan theories online and subtext. - Very crude humor. For a game with an eight-year-old protagonist, it sure did contain a lot of sexually-hinting jokes. What was even the point of those? And the delivery was always terrible too. I'm pretty sure the only one I laughed at was the one where George drew a ♥♥♥♥ on his canvas before killing himself. - The cutscenes where Morgo talks to Misfortune and interviews her are long and boring. I think the developers were trying to create a "your choices don't matter! oooo!" scenario, but it doesn't really work out if your audience doesn't know that. - The sparkles were surprisingly hard to get. The prompt only showed up 1-2 seconds after a cutscene and by then, I had already gone to the next area. - Replays are awful. I've seen this already, please give me an option to skip dialogue faster. - They didn't handle Misfortune's home life as tenderly as I hoped they would. They barely acknowledged it in the game at all. To sum it up, every time Misfortune's dad is mentioned, it goes something like this: "my dad hits me!" "oh dear" *game goes on as per usual*. - The literal animal-human love subplot? HELLO??? And I would've just brushed it off as a silly childhood crush if the devs didn't fully lean into it hardcore style. Overall, I give this game a 4/10. If it were advertised as a walking point-and-clicker, I would've enjoyed this more.
The story was interesting and I like the art direction. After I finished one of the endings, I went and got the second ending. I started looking into what all the different choices did to effect the game, and come to find out they don't really change anything. 5 hours play time and i'm done with it, not really worth what I paid for.
Bom jogo demais, Nathalia e Isaak arrasam sempre. OBGDA POR iluminarem meus dias com jogos tão únicos com o universo mais diferente e legal de se jogar, vocês são inspiração! <3
Hands down my favorite point and click game! I loved everything about this game, to me it was cozy with a dark atmosphere and story, not as dark as Fran Bow tbqh. As someone who went into this one completely blind, the ending was a surprise however the game was still very enjoyable. 10/10
