I enjoyed this petting zoo in natural habitats relaxation app. I think this app will appeal very strongly to kids, families with kids, or for those young at heart looking for a relaxing experience with cuteness overload. While there are mini-game type activities here, it's very basic and not geared towards "gamers." However, if you're mainly looking for an experience to get away from life's troubles, then this app is perfect for you.
There are five different maps, night and day for each. Each map will have different baby animals that you can pet. On the main hub hub map you're limited to the puppy and kitten. You can only feed them, play fetch, and pet them (they go to bed on their own). In this main hub area, you can unlock fish for the aquarium or unlock flowers for your 3 vases. That' s all the activity there and you would be mistaken if you thought that's all there was in this game (I think the negative reviewer made this mistake).
I will admit that the button for looking at the map to go to the other areas isn't intuitive. On the Oculus Quest 2, it is the Oculus menu button. Once there you can select day or night one of the other 4 maps which have the other pets, along with other activities to do. They each have scenarios for saving at least one of the baby animals. For example, in one you're cutting down a tree with an axe to save the piggy by giving it access to the mainland. You can also go fishing, row a boat, plant flowers, along with other scenarios for saving the baby animals.
All the pets are super cute. You can pet them once you get them to like you. You can pick them up once they love you. You have to figure out what to do to unlock that, but it's generally very simple. I would estimate it takes about 1 - 1 1/2 hours to unlock all the pets, assuming you're going at a relaxing pace and maybe 2 hours to unlock all the fish for the aquarium and flowers for the vases.
Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. You have full locomotion, teleportation, smooth & snap turning, along with degrees of turn for each, and vignette comfort options. I did expeirence a serious bug on one of the maps where I fell through the map and I had an issue in putting down the animal food because it would drop below the ground (wasteland map). There was also an issue with the 3D for going up a rope in the Arctic map.
[b]Rate ?/10. I think it's one of the better, if not the best petting simulator in VR. Worth the price if this kind of experience appeals to you, but again, this is a relaxation type experience, so not really meant for gamers. I do hope they fix the bugs I mentioned though.[/b]
