Update: map and shop issues have been fixed in the latest patch. Still a decent puzzle/exploration game, but the useless map and odd design choices take a big chunk out of the fun. You take control of a spherical creature with a highly helpful tongue, which you use to defeat enemies and overcome obstacles. The tongue, in its most basic form, can be used to break pots or other destructible things and to hit enemies. What irritates me the most is that you can miss even when you hit an enemy. The "miss" above enemy has no place in a game without stats. When you manage to knock an enemy out, you can put your tongue to good use: eating. The spherical creature develops new abilities by devouring various enemies. For example, the pig-shaped enemy helps you crush rocks, while slime allows you to walk on acid. Although you can carry more at once, power is limited and is lost when switching rooms. You can maintain using a power by devouring another enemy or finding stamina diamonds in breakable objects. Health and acorns, the game's currency, are also discovered in breakable objects. The overall goal is to look for keys that lead to new parts. The game is divided into different sections in which you must solve puzzles to progress. This frequently involves the use of switches and boxes that must be pushed or pulled with the tongue. A solution to a problem is frequently hidden in a combination of enemy abilities and observation of the environment. Some sections also require quick reflexes. When you enter a new room or do something important such as open a door, saving occurs automatically. Since death removes everything you collected since the last checkpoint, this makes exploration exceedingly dangerous. You might gather a wealth of acorns, go through a convoluted puzzle to grab an attack upgrade, explore and die to a trap. The worst are circumstances in which you must complete numerous steps to solve a puzzle. If you die before completing the final stage, you'll have to start over. Fortunately, doors and shortcuts remain open even after the puzzle is completely completed. The game encourages exploration. There are cracks in the walls and other mysteries that could lead to a permanent increase in your health or attack power. However, as with everything else, if you die before reaching a save point, you'll have to go get it again. In the center, there is some kind of hub and shop. The shop is a mixed bag. First and foremost, you have no idea what the thing does until you purchase it. It's all too simple to waste money on things you don't need. Second, most things are only available for a limited period. The map is available, but it’s useless. For starters, you must first touch a particular flower in order for a room to show up on the map. Second, while it displays chests and locked doors, it does not indicate which chest is already open or what type of key is required to open the door. You might find everything and the map will still show closed chests and locked doors. This makes the game laborious to play. Because there is no visual indication of how many secrets or chests are in a room, the exploration feels pointless. You have no idea where you’re supposed to go, where you've been, what doors you've opened, and so on. It's not enjoyable to walk through all the rooms again while searching for the right door or solving a puzzle only to realize the chest is already open.
Limo's Lair is a action puzzle game, that puts you into different rooms a la The Legend of Zelda or even Adventures of Lolo(which I remember as Lolo's Adventure for whatever reason) with a mix of Kirby tossed in. You'll explore a pretty large map, eat tons of enemies to absorb their powers - which is then used to help you solve puzzles for the area you are on - as well as use it to unlock the ability to go into some other areas locked behind eating a certain amount of enemies. The combat consists mostly of using your tongue to harm enemies, but you can also use some environmental hazards to help you defeat enemies. Once you absorb certain enemies you can use their attacks against others as well. All of this works really well, and I find it to be a pretty positive experience. The puzzles are at times a bit frustrating, not because they are particularly difficult to solve but because you have zero room for error and simple mistakes can often cause you to restart that particular area you're in. I found that to be incredibly frustrating, but just take some time to go do something else and it will help greatly. The graphics are relatively simple, but have this whimsical charm that I quite enjoyed. SFX is well done, and I quite enjoyed the music. The music is probably my favorite part of the game for sure.
This game is just Pac-Man on steroids! Really evocative and seems to bring back memories for me. Quite difficult, but enjoyable all at once. I enjoyed the game's various stages; each one is intriguing in its own unique way.I recommend it to people who like playing retro Soulslikes games and who enjoy taking on challenges. and this kind of games is extremely rare!
I've got to use 100% of my brain, on this one. The design looks charmingly simple, and the music fits well the atmosphere. The game is challenging, yet relaxing. Although I bought this game for my kids, I really enjoyed it myself.
Прикольные области с жаркой и холодной погодой! Пока играл, вспомнил игру детства Supaplex. Хорошие воспоминания.
Amazing game. The mechanics are fresh and original, the fights are moderately challenging, and it's a lot of fun and freedom to explore the world!
A fairly clever puzzle-adventure game. Gaining temporary powers from defeating enemies is pretty cool and leads to some interesting puzzles. I think the insta-kill environment hazards are a bit too punishing, especially in certain areas where it can take some time to redo parts of puzzles again. I think it would be better if most environment hazards just dealt damage. I still recommend playing it though!
Great game, have only been at it for an hour now but am loving it. The game has pleasant and charming music, enjoyed it greatly. It also has challenging puzzles making the game have a decent challenge, as well as monsters chasing after you. These monsters, however, are useful as once they are slain you eat them to gain their abilities to aid you in the puzzles! Highly recommend and look forward to more!
Throwback to the classic 16 bit days. Looks and plays like a SNES game I would have rented in the 90's. I played Limos Lair for an hour and enjoyed the puzzles, music and sound effects. The UI is clean & icons look great. Does a good job of informing the player what they're suppose to do and how things work. Took me a minute to wrap my head around all the mechanics, but once it clicked I was fine. The puzzles are complex enough to make you feel a sense of accomplishment. Early impression review only. 8.2/10
I love this game. I loved this game. Especially puzzle lovers will love it. It was nice that the puzzles had different difficulty levels, but finding the solutions to some of them almost drove me crazy, which should be in this type of game. I know some of you love hard puzzles to solve. The hard ones are for you guys. It has a unique power-up system that is well thought out. While reading reviews here you can see how much hour I played so far. You should give it a chance and play the game.
