About
Join us for a walk down memory lane with 9 playable Lightmatter prototypes — spanning from 2013 to 2018!
From its early inception as a university project called 'See You On The Other Side', to the full Steam release in 2020, we want to give something back to the community by providing an exclusive peak into the many iterations that Lightmatter went through to see the light of day!
Lightmatter is a 3D puzzle game where touching shadows is dangerous. Drawing inspiration from the classic first-person puzzlers, the gameplay revolves around utilizing lights to your advantage in order to solve mind-bending puzzles.
As the prototypes demonstrate, we experimented with a lot of different gameplay mechanics about how to manipulate light in interesting ways. But the core goal was always the same: make the player experience the satisfying "aha moment" by using lateral thinking.
Each of the prototypes tell the story of the many trials and tribulations we went through as an indie game studio in order to release our very first game on Steam. As a completely new team, we had to learn everything from scratch — including how to design puzzles, writing a story, running a business, and pitching to investors and publishers.

By scrolling through the game's menu and looking at the prototypes in chronological order, you will learn tidbits about how the gameplay evolved over time, how we managed to tell a sci-fi story, and how the game slowly found its identity. We hope you enjoy this little package of game development nostalgia as much as we did putting it together! <3

После оригинальной игры посмотреть на старые механики очень интересно, Демка с комментариями разработчиков - топ.

A fantastic showcase of the development process, allowing the player to enjoy all the concepts and ideas the developers experimented with that led to the final product. Many fans were really curious to see all this after the BTS screenshots in the credits, and the previews of older builds shown on their youtube channel. This was a wonderful treat, and a great surprise!

A real blast from the past, great to see how we got the final game
A very generous offering. As a collection of prototypes for a complete game it's rather jank and glitchy, and sometimes doesn't seem to play by its own rules, but you get plenty of interesting puzzles here for no cost at all, and you do get a sense of how Lightmatter in the end came together. It's unfortunate that Tunnel Vision Games is no longer active because on this evidence they have plenty of game-making talent.
I really enjoyed this, taught me to appreciate the team behind this great game, Lightmatter
i liked it. but if you put it oll in to one game it wold be more fun.
8/10 a short demo like game to brighten up your day, without a shadow of a doubt
Awesome
