game is amazing, though it had its flaws
the reasons you could love this game could also be the reasons other people hate it
I think that the story was good and the way they told it was really good (at least for me). everything that happens, and how it happens was nice, but the overall plot was kind of simple with it basically just trying to find rachel and all.
gameplay was okay for me, i like the time stuff. the dialogue was cringy and the vibe was really 2010's and teenger hipster ♥♥♥♥ but i love the game cause of it. the cringy dialogue grew on me, max is a dork.
- characters -
i think that the characters weren't well developed and fleshed out enough, some character development were way too late into the game. the characters had depth and some complexity, but i just dont think they were developed enough and fleshed out which is a litte disappointing cause they could've done soooo much.
max caulfield as a character isn't just a blank slate but she also wasn't fully fleshed out and fully developed, though i personally liked her character
chloe price is a really polarizing, childish and impulsive character and shes really complex. she has her reasons and shes a character with a lot of immaturity, emotional issues and trauma. i can see why people dont like her because of how she acts but that doesn't make her a bad character. shes a troubled youth and she's well written for what she's supposed to be
(I just wanna say, as characters, they could've done so much more with Victoria Chase, Nathan Prescott, Frank Bowers, and David Madsen)
victoria chase is a character that is the typical high school mean girl, and i hate that that's all she is for most of the game. later on for a couple scene, she shows some vulnerability and eventually she has some character development. to sum her up she wants validation and is insecure and sensitive to what other people think of her. she regrets her actions and she's the way she is because she's insecure and the way she reacts and responds to her feelings is really immature and unhealthy.
i think that nathan prescott is like such wasted potential, they could've done the most with his character. he was an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that's chatotic and has emotional outbursts, he was manipulated by all the figures he looked up to, mainly his father and jefferson. does this excuse the horrible ♥♥♥♥ he did? no. but if they developed him more, they could've made a really well written character. I mean i do think he was well written, i just think they couldve made him better
i havent played before the storm but frank bowers is not a good person, but he's also not a bad person (though he's leaning A LOT more on the bad person spectrum.) he's a very complex and interesting character. we have the drug dealing, then and grooming a highschooler thing which we do NOT excuse, and he's also kind of an extortionist, now that im writing this, i think he's a really bad dude... i just want to say he's chill and does care. he doesn't exactly want to hurt anybody, even after what he's done, all he really wanted was the money back. he's human.. all i could say.
i will finish this up with david madsen. i love his character, the main thing i wanna say is that he's an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with good intentions going about things the wrong way. he cares about chloe, it's just that he doesn't know how to express his feelings because of his own unresolved trauma. hes a very complex character being toxic, and controlling while having military trauma and ptsd. his ways are problematic but he cares about the characters, he cares about joyce and chloe (as said in the game, he cares even if his methods are extreme.)
the lessonsof the game is good. First, it teaches us that our actions have consequences, we have to learn to let go, and that you can't control everything, and that you have to accept everything that happens.
