Life is Strange - Episode 1

People speak too highly of this game. Your decisions do not matter and it is full of stereotypes that arent offensive to anything other than your wallet and time. The aesthetic is really good and pairs great with the soundtrack. The character designs for chloe and max are perfect but many of the other characters are more stereotypical and annoying to look at. I feel like every side character falls flat and are just made as stereotypes. It feels like an alien wrote this game after developing an interest in tumblr which is a very niche charm that wears out the moment you look for a compelling story. The main plot device is a certain natural disaster which has no explanation but is aparently caused by chaos theory??? So its all max's fault somehow even if it isnt explained or justified. What caused it? I dont know. How does time travel cause a tornado if max spends most of the game indoors? i dont know. Is is a pathetic way of trying to manipulate the player into feeling guilty? yes! Max is a puppet master for chloe's story. Their dynamic is very sweet but thats about it for max's character. She's a typical everyman like that ginger from hotel Transylvania only she actually has her moments. Shes slightly shy and timid and then becomes braver as the story advances. You dont actually get to mould her despite this being a choose your own adventure game. Speaking of.... your choices dont matter in the end. They barely matter in the short term. You could play the first two episodes, then the ending of ep 5 and you wouldnt know there were prior episodes. it plays like a movie in the worst way possible. The only real choice you make is the ending which you dont even need to work for. The game gives you a single choice you were forced to contribute by the devs instead of giving the player several endings depending on their choices which is the ONLY way a choose your own adventure game should be arranged. This genre funnels you into the story it wants you to follow too frequently. Even the highly praised telltale walking dead season 1 has this same problem. At least LIS has multiple endings. So much potential wasted. The time reverse mechanic is only there so you dont need to replay the game to experience all the dialogue first hand. That and some puzzles are the only thing you will use it for. In fact, one of the only fun parts of this game actively REMOVES THE REWIND. It feels like a crutch for people who are not familiar with video games and removes the power you should feel while playing as max and using it as the entire game is about the responsibility of her power. If this is your first ever video game and or movie i firmly believe you will enjoy it which goes to show how subjective and poorly written this game is.

Se eu pudesse dar uma dica pra voces, apenas joguem essa maravilha! Zerei e foi uma das melhores experiencias da minha vida, esse jogo e muito importante para mim

Really great game. You make choices and they affect the relationships you have. I don't think they necessarily affect the outcome, which is a bit of a bummer, because it makes the endings a bit limited. It's all a bit linear in a way. That said, I enjoyed the process, the time jumps, the story, and the emotions that came with it all. I truly did not expect to feel some type of way with my last choice, but I found myself actually caring and wondering if I made the right decision. I know I did, but that doesn't make it any easier to see play out. The main characters weren't always my favorite personalities, but they were pretty realistic to a certain extent, so I can't knock that. Overall, very, very well done.
