Leafing Home tells the tale of a young Prevost's squirrel, adopted and cherished by a family of flying squirrels. As the lone non-flyer among them, the little squirrel always felt a bit different.
When the precious fruit of the World Tree is stolen by a mischievous blue-footed booby, the squirrel bravely attempts to retrieve it, only to fall from the towering mountain. Now, it must find its way back home and reclaim the stolen fruit.
Joined by the bee detective, Detlev, the squirrel embarks on a wholesome journey. With the aid of a magical leaf, it learns to fly and explores a world marked by environmental issues. Along the way, it encounters extraordinary creatures, including colorful, arm-flapping birds, leggy fish, and giant tortoises.

I'm not a huge gamer, but this is awesome. It looks a bit like the old games, but I like it. Learning how to glide took me a short while but it feels nice. The minigames are cool! And the beeeeees!
Its a good exploration-based platformer. I like the environmental message in this game. It is buggy at times, but looks like the developers work quickly to patch anything that gets brought up by the gamers--that is always appreciated. There is a lot of depth to this game. I played over an hour and did not make it out of the first area on the map--so there is a lot of gameplay to be had!
Dear game dev, Your game radiates with heart and love. I can tell that you are inspired by many childhood and collectathon games from your youth. This game gives me a certain sense of nostalgia as I play it. I only made it through the city area, but I have little to complain about. If someone happens to enjoy cozy, easygoing collectathon games OR they have a child that would like to play a game, this is a good one to go to. Certainly deserves more attention. It did get super stuck for a minute, though, and I had to restart. 7/10. Smoochies. Love, Lucius Light
On my quest to play some good squirrel games I picked three: The Sacred Acorn, Squirreled Away and Leafing Home. Now's the time for the third one! Good nuts: - Bright and colorful world with a few different regions. - Lots of quests, mini-games, secrets and collectibles everywhere. - Pretty good length of playing if you try to collect everything. - No hazards or HP system, which is fine if you're casual player like me. - Interesting leaf-floating mechanic that rewards you for mastering it. Not very good nuts: - Lots of bugs: fps drops until you reload, buttons stops working until you reload, music stops until you reload, some quests are broken (Quest about obtaining a shield in the frozen region was already "completed" when I arrived, but I couldn't collect the shield and complete another quest. The pizza delivery mini-game rewarded me with the same plot letter every time I tried to beat it. Trying to replay the credits fly sequence just made the screen go black forever). - A lot of achievements are also bugged and not working (trash collected, flowers planted, chests found). - No hazards and HP means zero challenge. - Almost all chests contain seeds, and if you search thoroughly, you'll collect a lot of them without any means to use them. - For a squirrel game it only features two of them, almost everyone else are birds with stickman hands. Overall, while the game looks and plays very goofy (especially characters' designs), it's still a very fun and enjoyable adventure. Yes, this is the least squirrel game from all three that I've played (it's 99% a birb game), but it certainly shows a huge amount of work and deserves much better than just a handful of reviews. Please let me know if there are more good squirrel games that I could have missed! Not sure about "squirrel with a gun", but these three games that I've reviewed are giving me hope to see more of my favourite bushy-tailed rodents as playable characters.
I like the characters and the message of the game. Nice tutorial to find yourself on the right track. All in all, very family-friendly!
Really cute and fun game with a lot of potential! Unfortunately, I can't recommend it in its current state. It's quite buggy and needs more polish. The worst bug I encountered was at the Old Temple which prevented me from progressing any further in the game! So I never got to finish it. This is a known bug which was never patched :(
It is a very enjoyable and positive experience. I loved the focus on nature preservation and that it was wrapped up nicely in a fun 3d platformer. I highly recommend it if you want a bit of fun, but don't expect a lot from it. Several achievements (as of writing this review) do not work and there are some minor bugs that make it difficult to play occasionally, however having played the whole game on Steam Deck on lowest graphical setting, it felt like an early days PS1 3d platformer which I adore. Definitely worth a purchase if you also enjoy that genre.
