About
"Lateral Thinking Together" is a cooperative and competitive online multiplayer game that challenges your knowledge and deductive reasoning to uncover the correct answer.
It’s a detective-style quiz game where players unravel incomprehensible stories by asking "YES" or "NO" questions.
One player acts as the storyteller (host), while the others take on the role of solvers.
The Game Master (GM) can be set as either an AI or a player.
By letting the AI take on the role of GM, the game can be played solo.
With two or more players, one of the players can also act as the GM.
Ask questions that can be answered with "YES" or "NO"!
Example: Is he a human? ⇒ NO
Players compete against each other to achieve the highest accuracy rate. Your skills in reasoning and questioning are the key!
1. Create or Join a Room
The player who creates the room becomes the host and can assign the role of the questioner to either a player or an AI.
Players who join the room can choose to play as the questioner or as solvers.
2. Select a Problem and Set the Rules
Players can choose a problem from the problem set to start the game.
Additionally, you can set the answering time limit, lives (answer attempts), and the number of players required to win.
3. Ask Questions and Provide Answers
Players can individually ask questions, and the content of these questions will be visible to all players.
Once a player figures out the answer, they can submit their response individually.
When the number of winners reaches the set goal, or when all players have submitted their answers, the game moves on to the next problem.
Private Sessions: Only players with the room information can join. Enjoy a private experience with friends or acquaintances. You can choose the questioner to be either an AI or a player.
Customizable Game Settings: Adjust the challenge level by freely setting time limits and selecting problems.

Lateral Thinking Together, developed and published by PushForward, is a refreshing and unconventional puzzle experience built around communication, reasoning, and creativity. It’s not a game that dazzles with high-end visuals or complex mechanics; instead, it captures the essence of thought itself—challenging players to solve bizarre, logic-defying riddles by asking the right questions. The premise is simple yet surprisingly engaging: one player (or the game’s AI host) presents a cryptic situation, while others must deduce the underlying story by asking yes-or-no questions. It’s a digital reimagining of the classic “lateral thinking puzzles,” brought into a cooperative and competitive multiplayer format that thrives on interaction and imagination. At its core, Lateral Thinking Together is about curiosity and inference. Each scenario presents players with a strange, seemingly nonsensical statement—something like “A man walks into a bar and asks for a glass of water; the bartender pulls out a gun and points it at him. The man thanks the bartender and leaves.” The objective is to figure out why this makes sense, piecing together the hidden logic behind it through carefully structured questioning. Every question counts, and the host’s yes-or-no answers slowly lead players toward the solution. The brilliance of the concept lies in how it encourages players to think sideways, to break free from straightforward logic and explore absurd or indirect possibilities. When the final answer clicks into place, the satisfaction is immense—a moment of shared revelation that feels both funny and profound. The game’s structure accommodates different modes of play. In cooperative sessions, players work together to solve a scenario, pooling their ideas and reasoning in real-time. In competitive mode, they race to find the correct answer first, adding a playful layer of rivalry. Each round can be customized with time limits, limited guesses, or other constraints to heighten the challenge. For solo players, an AI host is available to present puzzles and respond to questions, though this mode lacks some of the lively unpredictability that comes from human interaction. The design encourages conversation and creative thought, making it ideal for group play—particularly in voice chat sessions where players can bounce wild theories off one another. The simplicity of its mechanics means that anyone can jump in quickly, regardless of gaming experience, and still contribute meaningfully to the problem-solving process. Visually, Lateral Thinking Together takes a minimalist approach that serves its purpose well. The interface is clean, intuitive, and focused entirely on communication. Text boxes, timers, and response indicators are all that’s needed to keep the flow of the game moving smoothly. It’s clear that the developers at PushForward intended the design to disappear into the background, letting the players’ imagination drive the experience. There are no distracting animations or unnecessary clutter—just a clear space for dialogue and deduction. This restraint works in the game’s favor, especially given its cerebral nature. The soundtrack and sound effects are sparse, maintaining a calm, reflective tone that suits the pacing of each round. Despite its promise, Lateral Thinking Together is still early in its development, and that shows in both content and polish. The current library of puzzles is limited, meaning repeated sessions can start to feel familiar after a while. The AI-hosted mode, while functional, doesn’t quite replicate the nuance of a human moderator, sometimes providing overly rigid or unclear responses. The developers have promised future updates that will allow player-generated puzzles, expanded content packs, and improved customization options—all of which would go a long way toward enriching replayability. In its current state, the game feels more like an experimental framework for a great idea than a fully realized package. However, that foundation is solid, and it’s easy to see how community involvement could transform it into something special. Where Lateral Thinking Together truly shines is in its social dimension. It’s a game that thrives on group dynamics—how people communicate, interpret clues, and build ideas together. Every session feels unique because the enjoyment doesn’t just come from solving the puzzle; it comes from the process of asking questions, challenging assumptions, and laughing at absurd guesses. In that sense, it functions more like a conversational experience than a traditional game. It’s perfect for friends who enjoy intellectual challenges or those who simply love storytelling and improvisation. The best sessions often become memorable for their discussions rather than their answers, as players twist logic in every direction to chase the truth. That being said, the game’s success depends heavily on its participants. Without an active and engaged group, the experience can feel flat or slow. The AI host can fill in for a missing player, but the charm of the game comes from human unpredictability and collaboration. Its minimal presentation and text-based format also mean it won’t appeal to players looking for visual spectacle or traditional gameplay loops. Lateral Thinking Together belongs in the same category as games like “Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes” or “Jackbox Party Pack,” where the joy lies in shared conversation and creativity rather than direct competition or progression. Ultimately, Lateral Thinking Together is a promising and thought-provoking title that invites players to engage their imagination and intellect in equal measure. It’s a digital celebration of human curiosity—the kind of game that rewards asking the right questions as much as finding the right answers. While it currently feels like an early iteration of a larger concept, its potential is undeniable. With more puzzles, smoother AI integration, and greater community tools, it could easily become a go-to experience for groups seeking clever, cooperative fun. Even in its current form, it offers something rare: a game that reminds players how enjoyable thinking, discussing, and discovering together can be. Rating: 5/10
