Awful tower defense way to grindy half the stats feel like they do nothing and tying the fun units behind this stupid finish the story ♥♥♥♥.
Rating: "Good." The Last Saintess is a tower defense game, played with you right in the middle of the action in a 3rd person view. This gives you two unique benefits that you don't have in the usual top down tower defense games. For one its more immersive and secondly you can appreciate the character models... And the character models deserve a lot of appreciation :). I should say right off the bat that I'm a bit biased when it comes to games by eTIRUe. I've loved nearly all of them since I played "Dark Siren" and the one's I didn't love I still enjoy and try to 100 percent. They are all budget titles. None of them costing very much, and that goes a long way, I appreciate that they are priced reasonable and some would say realistically. For the cost and the content, I have never found the sometimes lack of polish or occasionally simplistic game play loops a problem. I don't know if its the character models or the incorporation of appreciation for said models directly in the game play or what... well ok, yeah its probably the character models, lol. They are always very very nice, and while nothing here is a triple a experience, the short comings are not egregious and I'm always having fun. That's the case with The Last Saintess. In The Last Saintess you play the heroine defending against the incoming hordes of enemies by placing units that vary from knights and sorceresses to more strange and sexy characters you unlock later on. For anyone into tower defense games you will be right at home. You start by placing a few units, each kill they earn nets you currency and you use that currency to place more units until you have hit your unit cap (most caps can be raised by leveling aspects of your powers when not in battle). You can also purchase and equip gear to your units, level them up or equip them with runes and accessories, all of which have either stat buffs or various perks like life draining hits etc. Your role in this being to keep upgrading your team before you get over run and healing your units using the heroine's powers. The units are fairly standard as first. The normal things you'd expect. Short range fighters, archers, AOE casters, etc. Once you progress far enough you can unlock new unit types (and there are a lot) most of which vastly change your potential and are easy on the eyes ;) (you can take control of a free moving camera at any time by pressing "C"). The pathing can be somewhat rough. Meaning the different lanes the monsters come down and the frequency or alternation which they use to come down them. Starts off super easy, a single lane but before long you have multiple lanes and even your back exposed. Again most of this is normal for TD games but the different levels in The Last Saintess are varied and interesting enough (along with new enemy types) to keep you interested and invested. I played this game so much I ended up getting all the achievements (which aren't that hard to obtain, really. There are only a handful of them) and finishing all the challenge modes (which are a form of torture on the hardest levels). I wanted there to be more, but there is a lot here once you get past the occasionally bad dialogue translation and somewhat repetitive game play that most tower defense games suffer from. To beat you might need to get inventive as the difficult later on can be brutal. I wish there was voice acting but for a title like this I understand why there isn't. It also doesn't remove much from this type of experience so it wasn't a huge deal. With tons to unlock, including sexy outfits for the heroine and very powerful and attractive new unit types, there is a lot here and the strategy is deeper than you might expect at first glance. The Last Saintess was very fun, something I had trouble putting down. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of fan service and/or Tower Defense and Fantasy games. It's a grind fest, however if you keep playing you will proceed. Atleast your time gets respected by giving you plenty of points to upgrade. Could have done with a bit more content but its okay for a inbetween match.
Its not that great but overall preety enjoyable experience. For the cons: 1. It crashes for me on the sirens stages and I think it have some memory leak or just my pc idk. 2. Gameplay is preety slow and this game is a bit too grindy because of that. But ye not bad overall and preety cheap too, I hope for some updates maybe for speeding the game maybe for some new stages and ofc for optimalizations.
