First review, its pretty fun
I barely have a lick of time with this game, but I was able to pick it up and understand it quite easily. The controls were confusing at first, but thank goodness there was a controls listing option on the Main Menu. The game setup has a modest range of options for things like players per team, the CPU difficulty, win conditions (time/score, both of which can be customized), etc. The teams on both sides can even be customized, and the player can choose either side to play on. Now, this may only be a skill issue on my part, but the only gripe I've had so far with this game is the difficulty of the CPU itself. Even on easy, they tend to get the upper-hand a lot of the time unless I play aggressively. Other than that, this is a nice little retro-style sporty game. Almost like what a concept-demo for Rocket League would have looked like, I say! If you have $5 to spare, this one's definitely a nice time-killer if you need it.
I was given a free code for Laser Cup so that I could post a review if I'd like, and honestly I held off from doing so for quite a while in hopes that some issues that I saw during my initial play might be addressed. However, after a question being open in the forum for, as of this writing, over six weeks with no sign that the developer has any interest in interacting with Steam customers, I've decided I'm just going to have to post a negative review. In many ways the game is extremely basic, which is reflected in it's $5 price point. The graphics are pretty basic, and so is the game play at least as far as I can tell - the players each control a team of cars/sleds/whatever and you have to use them to bump the puck into the opponent's goal. Simple enough. However during gameplay MANY questions came up, and there are no explanations anywhere. The game does not have a tutorial. Or a help screen. Or a manual. Not even one you can download. The game lets you play with either keyboard or mouse, however it's' unclear what those controls actually do. During the course of a game various symbols, and what appear to possibly be powerups, pop up in the middle of the field. No explanation as to what any of them are or what they do. The same with a white exclamation mark that sometimes pops up on the field. What does it do? No idea. This is a game with very limited game play to begin with, and what little gameplay it has is completely crippled by the obscure play mechanics. Really this probably should have been a free early access game until they got all this worked out.
Top Game. If there was an alternative control for steering, it would make this game an arcade classic one day. Idea: Add an alternative control to allow steering through the left/right pad/stick (for left or right rotation). Current setting with "up-right-down-left" steering confuses a bit when using acceleration/boost.
Great game! Just the perfect game to have a good time with some friends!
