Great fun co-op! Need more creative and original games made like this, really enjoying it :) Couple of very minor bugs that I expect will be sorted to make this one great little game!!!
Full disclosure: I know the developers of this game via the local game dev community, but I bought the game personally. Lanterns is a quirky puzzle game, that may initially seem simple but undeneath has a lot to offer. With a wide selection of characters each possessing different traits and abilities which when mixed with the obstacles presented offer a variety of unique challenges that will test both your wits and reflexes (and usually your friendship with your co-op partner). There are currently some minor bugs and it could use some tweaking but there is definitely some solid framework here for an enjoyable experience. I am excited to see where this project goes in the future.
Played the game at PAX Australia in 2018 already, was great fun back then, is great fun now! Very cool coop gameplay with nice, surprising puzzles. Definitely recommended for a couple fun evenings. Minor note: we can't quite figure out how the level selection really works, when are we done with all levels? Is there an order in which one *should* play them? Regardless, controlling the UI feels nice and snappy.
As I can only play alone, I haven't played a huge amount of the game. What I can say from this experience though, is that despite my lacking a second player, with suffient skill I can still pass the levels. This is only possible due to the way the levels have been designed and is super awesome. One of the really nice features of the game is the absence of lives, which not only lets me complete levels on my own but also lets me see the respawn animation without having to be frustrated and worried about restarting. Love it.
