"KOV" is a really bizarre failure. It's a non-English space sim/shooter (welcome) that doesn't work with mouse + keyboard (wtf were they thinking). No wonder it failed so hard. Did the developer not realize Steam isn't for distributing console games? Did he get confused? Anyway while this looks like it's got some potential, don't be fooled, it's a janky mess with mediocre graphics and worse gameplay. In part, perhaps a case of being overambitious, but the decision to lock out KB+M is simply inexcusable.
This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this don't understand that.
Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game.
Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable.
The poor quality of this game is also reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the E-Book all-time peak reader count was only ONE reader. That's right, only one person ever read this at a time. When I read this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak reader count for the E-Book. OUCH.
The only reader activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it.
Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it?
Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, that's nothing.
