Kokoda VR

Heaps of content, really immersive & one of the best VR experiences I've had so far. Plus it's free! I definitely came out with a better understanding and appreciation of what the soldiers went through. All up the campaign takes around 45 minutes, which is way longer than most other VR experiences I've tried (even a bunch of the paid ones). If you ever want to show a young person what it was like living through the war, definitely show them this. Would be great in classrooms.

So I'm not Australian. I don't know anything about Kokoda. I had never heard of it. Will this game appeal to someone who has no interest in this topic material? Maybe. If you're a VR enthusiasts and just want more content. I think this experience is worth the download, mostly from a technical standpoint. This game brings animated scenes, cutscenes that are interviews of veterans of Kokoda on both sides, and very basic gameplay. The basic gameplay is just grabbing or pointing/looking at objects. I honestly think this Kokoda VR experience was brought down by this poor attempt with interactivity. This experience would have been better if it was just the animated scenes with the real-life interview cutscenes. The experience was informative, but not exactly exciting or moving/touching. The ending of this particular conflict was actually anti-climactic. The Japanese retreated because they ran out of supplies. Kokoda was taken without a shot fired. At least the final scene was that of modern Kokoda and that was at least interesting to see. I give this VR experience a 5/10. Only for VR enthusiasts or for someone with particular interest in Kokoda/WW2 history buffs.

40 min documentary which you should view if you are interested in the short military campaign Australia vs Japan on New Guinea. Virtual reality doesn't really add much to the experience, but if you want to learn about the subject, there's no reason to go looking for a 2D documentary.

Kokoda VR is Free VR experience that is a Documentary about the WW2 campaign of Australian defense of New Guinea from the Japanese. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has 45 minutes of material from beginning to credits. After that you can pick individual episodes. The devs did a good job of modeling and texturing everything in the vr sequences. You can play this from a seated play space. Has video interviews from veterans. CONS: Has been removed from steam store search. Try this, if you are interested in WW 2 history.

First of all this is as boring as it gets. All you do is you pass sticks and watch some videos and listen to history lessons. This is not a game AT ALL. It also takes so long to do anything... There is no movement, all you do is you look around and pick up stuff from stationary position. 0/10 (Oh and it uses low textures and resloution. Had no wow effect on me)
