A silly little micro RPG. You are Sir Knick, trying to save the kingdom without dying from general incompetence. You're free to explore the expansive world any way you'd like, but beware of what you might encounter.

Very enjoyable game. fun mechanics and entertaining dialog. Do wish it was a little longer, or maybe have a second story to go through.
If you like cool medieval stuff, and cool retro games and cool music, then you're cool and you'll like this.
Welp, I'll be honest here: friend of mine, Luchok, gave me key to this game that he was involved on, so i didn't bought that game by myself. Actual review: I didn't played much RPGs and JRPGs, so I can't really tell about how similar this game is to any other game and which influences there is and etc. However, I can tell that this is pretty much good and fun "microRPG" (or how do you call it) for several hours (I'd gave 3-4 hours tbh) There is some RNG text-events and fights (in text format ofc) which will appear during your moves on tiles and you'll need to keep track on your health/hunger/sickness via potions/food/medicine during all of that Soundtrack sounds good and keeps whole mood of 80-x RPG's, but gets pretty boring during the time and transition from one track to another really harsh Also I didn't found any major bugs there (only minor annoyances like lack of bulk purchasing and need to leave the city by one tile in order to enter it) and as bug tester by myself that's really good to see (: P.S.: Farm gold in desert on sand worms and rest in nearby town ;) Summarizing all of that: Knight Trail pretty much worth those 200 rubles/5 dollars and you'll have some fun with that if you fun of old JRPGs, but it can be repetative during some time because lack of new text events. And this game is pretty much bugless (only some small flaws)! Soundtrack good, but repetative after while. Overall — I liked it, dat was fun! :D And I will try to complete all of castles down there (: P.S. Completed game and destroyed Warlock >:) I was too generous about the 3-4 hours tbh, it's 2-3 hours at best (if you'll find all 3 castles pretty quickly) Still recommend it tho (:
Super quick and fun microRPG!
First of all, thank you for the free product. I really appreciate it. Knight Trail is a fun, little & quirky game inspired by some of the giants of the RPG genre. Visually, it's Dragon Quest, gameplay wise it has some hints of King's Quest and a touch of Mother. In Knight Trail, you take control of Sir Knick. A peculiar Knight who seemingly can only face 1 direction. Most of the gameplay is up to chance, driven by RNG. That in itself is not a bad thing however, when paired with the fact that there is no save system in place, you can go a good 30 minutes on a run and lose that 30 minutes simply because you didn't know going through a cave would take exactly 3 Hunger away from you, killing you instantly if you don't have enough Hunger Points. The gameplay loop involves resource management, gathering information...and a lot of trial and error. As you move about the world of Faraway, with each step you lose Hunger Points. You could also become poisoned, and lose HP with every step you take as well. Running out of either will end your run. With each step you may also trigger an encounter often flanked with flavor text. You could encounter a child asking you to teach him a swear word, or simply finding 2 gold next to a snail. There's quite a few encounters you can come across, some with several outcomes based on your choices. The story is very short and to the point. You must find a special sword and destroy the evil wizard. It's not anything you haven't heard of before, but it's also not trying to be. It's an homage to the early days of RPGs after all. But it is a very short experience. Gathering everything after many runs took me around 2.5 hours. One could however, skip to a certain town, load up on items and approach the final boss within 30 minutes or so. The music is that 8-bit sound that you grew up on if you played games like Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy. And it's not that fake 8-bit sound either. It sounds like it is coming straight out of a NES. Very simple yet effective melodies pepper the world of Faraway and I recommend listening to them each at least once. In terms of quality assurance, the game is solid for the most part. Though, I did encounter a bug regarding inventory. If your Potion or Medicine count goes above 9, and you use one, it will take I believe 4 away instead of just using the 1. Overall, I did somewhat enjoy my time with Knight Trail. It aims to call back to a simpler time and to an extent it succeeds in that. The map of Faraway is very charming and the visuals are as well. However, there are some game design missteps with constantly having to open the menu to use food, and a lack of a save system that I feel hindered the overall experience. I rate Knight Trail a 7/10. I can't say that $4.99 is the ideal price point for the potential amount of content here. However, there is some fun to be had for those who are curious enough to explore Faraway and its charms.
My friend had some involvement with this game so I am forced to leave a positive review (In serious though, this is a fun silly little game)
It was a great game. Finished it completely but wished it could of been longer. Would love some achievements and a story (also a pdf of the in game items; make this happen dev!) but definitely would give it a buy.
As straightforward as the game is, and how linear it is, it does exactly what it wants to be done well. It's definitely a short title that mostly focuses on repeat playthroughs for additional content, but I can recommend it as is.
