Decent game overall. In general Joshua Keith's are some of the better rpgmaker games out there when it comes to combat. Took me around 30hrs to complete on hard without skipping any enemies. I like to sweat more in these types of games, but on the hardest difficulty it presented a decent challenge a couple of times. As for the story, all I'll say is that it certainly has one. If you enjoy some rpgmaker combat while relaxing in bed or while watching a movie, I give this a solid recommendation.
Knight Bewitched 2 is a decent enough continuation to the first game, a pretty enjoyable experience all in all. It's come to my attention that the Enhanced remake of the first one was made a couple years after this sequel, so that explained why playing them in quick succession like this felt a little jarring to me. The combat wasn't as tightly strategic, and the absence of some quality of life things (diagonal movement, easier menuing to name a couple) was hard to ignore sometimes, but that's really only an apparent problem when playing one after the other. Regardless, I think this game stands on its own well enough. I said the combat isn't as deep, but it's still pretty enjoyable. Character abilities remain impactful and interesting, with each character serving a specific and well-designed role, and the option to switch the party around with new additions to the cast is cool (i didn't really feel a need to change the party comp at all during the playthrough, sticking with Rae, Alex, Ruth and Gwen, but the added freedom is most definitely a positive); there's still a fair bit of strategy to it, once again using buffs and debuffs and so on is still an important part of the game, at least for bossfights. Most random encounters can be dealt with quickly, and I think that's alright (I did appreciate the option of having enemies show up on the map instead of getting into fights every few steps), though Gwen absolutely trivializes a vast majority of the basic enemies as soon as she gets access to AoE sleep infliction, so I recommend having her on the party. KB2 also added a new combat mechanic with Barriers, basically shields of temporary hp that negate most incoming debuffs, some abilities are made specifically to damage barriers more; I think it's an alright idea and it made some random encounters harder to cheese, but I'm also glad it was used very sparingly, only few enemies had access to it. The story is fine, serviceable, though it felt a bit more shallow than the first game's, while also being just as rushed. There's a few good additions to the lore here and there, cool stuff after getting interested in the setting, it spices it up a bit. The returning cast are all still themselves, some of them getting additional development through optional dialogue and scenes (it seems like most of the focus is on Uno and Malady in particular, which I didn't mind, their situation was actually written in an interesting way despite feeling kinda rushed as usual), but there's a sad lack of Ruth and Gwen content; despite one mention of them being married to each other, they don't really get a chance to interact much, and nothing new is learned about the dynamics of their relationship. It's a shame because it was very rushed in the first game as well. The new protagonists were okay as well, though Alex could easily be perceived as annoying. I didn't mind much. Map design and exploration are still pretty competent, though there's more than a few places where visibility is low and you have to orient yourself with a flashlight-like cone of light centered on your character, very clumsy to use, and there's especially one dungeon where you can't see anything at all otherwise. All in all, alright sequel, there's just not a lot to say. If you liked Knight Bewitched, KB2 is probably gonna be nice for you too. Just lower your expectations a little since this one does not have an Enhanced version of its own.
So far not bad. I got it on sale for dirt cheap. According to the manual theyre are a few bosses and many optional quests and a upgrades. I did buy because I saw girls but its also not a bad game so far. The game also seems large according to the map. Overall I recomend it.
Good game in this series, this was. This dev does a fantastic job creating rpg games. I highly recommend playing any or better yet, all of his games.
Enjoyable sequel to Knight Bewitched. I find the combat mechanics super satisfying.
I enjoyed the first Knight Bewitched, and this sequel follows a similar style to the first game with respect to story, gameplay, and general atmosphere. I don't typically play these style of games, but I had an enjoyable time. My play time isn't accurate as I left the game on, but there's a decent amount of content. For those who don't like missing out on items, there's a handbook and guide available if you're stuck or don't like missing content.
While I prefer the story of previous game, KB2 was a fun continuation. Short and sweet, taking ~7-8hrs needed to beat + 100% and leaves you wishing it were longer. Gameplay is simplistic, with the ability to swap combat difficulty while in game via options. Side quests lead you to interesting interactions with side characters that add a bit of charm to the game's universe. KB1 + 2 has me invested in the Knights Ambrose series, its just a shame I'm incredibly late to this party.
I had fun with Knight Bewitched and, though the story was pretty short and I'm certain I beat the main game and about half of the side content in about 7 hours, it does feature a post-credits scene that sets up another big bad guy, so I figured I'd give this one try to finish the duology. I like that the main characters are no longer Ruth and Gwen and their companions, and instead we focus on Rae and Alex, the mercs you ran into a couple of times in the first game, but with a fair amount of new characters and familiar faces returning from the previous game, including Uno and Stray, Gwen's sister Malady, Hermes the priest and a few more. I enjoyed the experience and, though this one does seem a bit less polished that the first entry, it's mostly because this in the original and not an enhanced version, and it still resembles it a lot in most respects. I liked that it has a quest log, that there's more side quests and cut-scenes that pop up when you visit certain places, and that the story from the first one is alluded to and even expanded upon in some respects. And it also ends with a post-credits scene setting up a sequel, so I'm waiting for Part 3 to come out, if it ever does.
This was another satisfying adventure in the Ambrose saga, if you enjoyed the first game you'll likely enjoy this one as well. It's not quite as long as the first game but in addition to the original cast of characters several new ones join in too, allowing for even greater variation of party tactics and damage approaches. There are also some old plot threads that are resolved in a satisfying way, and the occasional funny line that can make you chuckle. The story is definitely shorter here and I wish we got a little bit more interesting interactions with the new additions to the group, and I also found Alex to be a bit grating at times, though eventually she did grow on me somewhat. Rae as the stoic barbarian warrior was actually a cool and welcome addition to the roster. If you like old school JRPG games I highly recommend both Knight Bewitched and the sequel, they're very fun games even if the occasional combat mechanic is a bit irritating or the writing can be slightly stiff in places, they're excellent to get lost in for a solid 20-40 hours and are filled with lots of sidequests with nice artwork and solid musical score.
