great gameplay, ♥♥♥♥ the story but i finish it so okay
I loved the first game and this is a great addition. You can play with favorite characters from the first game alongside new ones. LGBTQ+ friendly and the gameplay is fun. If you love retro style RPG's or JRPG's then you should enjoy this game as well as the rest withing the saga. I bought the full collection so that's 5 games plus the next game in the saga is currently being made and can be supported on Kickstarter. Just search Celestial Hearts.
I played the first Knight Bewitched, which I enjoyed, but this game is definitely better. It's basically the same overall game, but new and improved. I really enjoyed the story this time, and the new characters. The gameplay and dungeons were more fluid and was nice to see the enemies to avoid random encounters in the dungeons. Looking forward to the next game!
This game is just as solid of a turn based rpg as the first Knight Bewitched. The characters of the first game return with some brand new characters all in a new world map to explore. Having 8 characters to choose for your party instead of just 4 static ones is nice since you always have more options available to you. New features like the ability to have enemies on the map instead of random encounters, on the fly difficulty adjustment, and skill enhancers to find are neat additions. Artwork/characters are still great. And it's cool to see how the conclusion to one adventure doesn't mean the conclusion to a life of adventures. Ruth/Gwen best adventuring couple.
a bit easier than the previous game but fun to continue the story
I just fell in love with the story and the characters of Knight Bewitched 2 and its predecessor and can't wait to play the remastered version of Knight Bewitched :) Not one boring minute in this game. No overly complicated puzzles that give you a headache for days and no mindless backtracking all the time. Just perfect for some chill hours and a good laugh here and there. I highly recommend this game. Also looking forward to Celestial Hearts, looks promising so far ^^ And who knows, maybe Knight Bewitched 3 will be announced some day in the future, I have not lost all hope yet ;)
เกมเพลย์กับเควสภาคนี้ง่ายกว่าภาคก่อนๆ แต่เนื้อเรื่องยังสนุกเหมือนเดิม
Knight Bewitched 2, developed and published by Joshua Keith, is a heartfelt indie role-playing game that continues the story of the first Knight Bewitched while standing well enough on its own as a complete narrative experience. Set in the same medieval fantasy world of Ambrose, it carries forward the charm, character-driven storytelling, and classical turn-based structure that define Joshua Keith’s games. From the very beginning, it’s clear that this sequel aims to refine rather than reinvent, expanding upon the foundation of the original while tightening its mechanics, deepening its lore, and improving pacing. It’s a throwback to traditional 16-bit JRPGs with a focus on straightforward design and character emotion, the kind of game that prioritizes narrative sincerity over flashy production values. The story unfolds a few months after the events of the first game, following mercenaries Rae and Alex as they embark on an expedition to explore the ruins of an ancient temple. What begins as a simple commission quickly spirals into a much larger mystery when they uncover a secret cult operating within the ruins, intent on resurrecting an ancient power that could threaten the world of Ambrose once again. As their journey continues, the party expands with new allies—each carrying their own motives and personal conflicts—and the adventure evolves from a localized investigation into a battle for the soul of their world. The writing doesn’t rely on grandiose tropes or melodrama; instead, it thrives on intimate character exchanges and the quiet development of trust between companions. Joshua Keith’s narrative style retains a handcrafted quality, balancing light humor, tragedy, and sincerity in equal measure. While not overly complex, the story’s emotional core is surprisingly effective, especially in moments where characters confront their own doubts about duty, love, and identity. The gameplay structure is deliberately traditional, evoking the golden age of 1990s JRPGs. Players guide a party of four through dungeons, towns, and the overworld, fighting turn-based battles and uncovering secrets scattered across the landscape. Combat is brisk and accessible, emphasizing strategic use of skills, buffs, and elemental weaknesses without overcomplicating the system. The ability to switch between visible on-screen enemies and random encounters offers welcome flexibility, allowing players to decide between grinding or breezing through exploration. The inclusion of two difficulty modes—Casual and Heroic—ensures that both story-focused players and challenge seekers can enjoy the experience at their own pace. The battle system rewards preparation more than reflex, and as the campaign progresses, party composition and skill synergy become increasingly important. While it lacks the mechanical depth of larger RPGs, it compensates through clear feedback, balanced pacing, and the rewarding rhythm of small victories that accumulate into meaningful progression. Visually, Knight Bewitched 2 embraces the retro charm of its RPG Maker roots but does so with care and consistency. The pixel art is colorful and well-organized, with enough variation in environments to keep exploration engaging. Towns are cozy and vibrant, while dungeons are dark, twisting, and punctuated with traps or hidden items that invite careful exploration. The character sprites are expressive despite their simplicity, and the UI is clean, easy to read, and functional. The sound design, though modest, complements the atmosphere—soothing town themes, battle tunes with a nostalgic punch, and ambient dungeon soundtracks that evoke both tension and wonder. It’s clear that the developer values clarity and tone over spectacle, and that restraint works to the game’s advantage. Even with limited assets, there’s a sense of passion in how each environment is composed, making the world feel familiar yet alive. Where Knight Bewitched 2 truly shines is in its sense of continuity and improvement over its predecessor. The pacing is smoother, with fewer moments of aimless wandering and more deliberate progression through story and exploration. The addition of side areas, hidden treasures, and optional bosses adds a layer of replayability that the original lacked. Character interactions are better integrated into gameplay, giving the narrative more momentum and emotional resonance. However, despite these enhancements, some of the same limitations remain. The side content, while present, is minimal compared to what players might expect from a larger-scale RPG, and certain story arcs could have benefited from deeper exploration. The linear structure means that once the main story is complete, there’s little left to do beyond revisiting old areas for missed secrets. Nonetheless, for an indie RPG built almost entirely by one developer, the level of polish and coherence is impressive. Knight Bewitched 2’s greatest strength lies in its personality. It feels like a labor of love rather than a commercial product—every pixel, line of dialogue, and musical cue reflects genuine care for the genre and its traditions. The characters’ relationships, including the series’ continued inclusion of LGBTQ+ themes, are handled with warmth and sincerity rather than sensationalism. The world of Ambrose is one of hope and courage as much as it is one of danger, and that balance of tone keeps the game engaging from start to finish. It doesn’t strive to surprise with technical innovation, but rather to remind players why the simple formula of party-based adventure, friendship, and sacrifice remains timeless. Ultimately, Knight Bewitched 2 is a small but satisfying indie RPG that delivers exactly what it promises: a classic, heartfelt adventure filled with nostalgic mechanics and earnest storytelling. It may not push boundaries or redefine the genre, but it succeeds through sincerity and craftsmanship. For players who grew up on the SNES era of role-playing games or who simply crave a focused, character-driven journey made with passion rather than pretense, Knight Bewitched 2 is a worthy experience. It’s a reminder that even the simplest tales, when told with care, can still resonate long after the credits roll. Rating: 6/10
