"Kiwie vs Desert" is a really badly made 2.5D endless runner with one rather pointless gimmick.. you run towards the screen instead of away. Temple Runner, watch out! Just kidding, this was an incredible flop. What do you do in the game? Endless running. You get a couple of gimmicks that you need to use to avoid/blow up obstacles, but this is frankly worse than Flappy Bird. The graphics aren't great. That's understandably be turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a $8 USD "donation" for this as you're expected to buy some extra DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

So, understanding that this is a casual first game from this dev duo, it's a rather fine free experience with a cute style and easy-going feel. The levels aren't too long, I enjoy the perspective and pacing in comparison to other games about running and dodging, plus it's free. It actually reminds me of 'The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner', moreso than more contemporary 'runner games'. I think that's because whereas games like Canabolt, Temple Run, T.E.C. 3001, Fotonica, or Boson X express that speed is an essential component (you build up velocity, even entering a hyper-speed mode in the latter three examples) - this game doesn't really 'speed up'. Adjustment in speed is randomly applied between levels, at least in the levels I played. So, Kiwie vs Desert is more focused on squeezing through tight spots, which I find an interesting variation. There's something enjoyable about scanning a line through obstacles and sliding elegantly around them. That is, *when* the game allows for elegance. One of the issues I have with the game - which feels fundamental and which might become more prominent later the game - is that it blocks inputs. For example, if there's a fuel pellet in front of the player but then a cactus in front of the pellet, the player might be tempted to 'slide in and out' - hold down one direction to grab the pellet then tap the other direction to dodge the cactus. However, instead what happens is that the first input locks out subsequent inputs, so the player has to consciously make sure to let go of the first input before tapping the second one which is easily fixable but means that the game can't really respond to more precise dodging. Smaller complaint: some elements of game seem to be a bit in conflict with each other. Like, the game allows for using the mouse & pressing the on-screen keys (inherently less immediate and lends itself to less twitch reaction based playing). And it's not one or the other - they both exist but the game can't really cater to both since you need bombs and shields to play it more casually (which require repeatedly buying them with coins that need to be earned) otherwise the player *has* to navigate the maze of cacti to gain fuel pellets. Plus, the levels feel hand-crafted rather than procedural, which is neat but also means that memorisation is more beneficial rather than relying on fundamentals - find a path and stick to that path until you get hit - which for a game so heavily focused on dodging/squeezing past feels...counter to it's ethos? There's generally little incentive to find different paths, since the obstacles are so dense but also static. I hope that's not too nit-picky, or just nonsensical - I guess I had a half hour too much and overwrote, sorry! Anyway, I like the game, I'm glad it exists.
Kiwie vs Desert, kedi Kiwie'nin başrolde olduğu öne bakan bir arcade koşu oyunudur. Kiwie'yi eve götürme arayışınızda giderek artan zorluktaki 50 seviyede ilerlerken bomba atın, kalkanları donatın, engellerin üzerinden jetpack geçirin ve düşmanlardan kurtulun.
Meow meow desert cat! This is a purrfectly cute arcade runner where you guide Kiwie through a desert planet. The game features adorable skin options and a pawsome soundtrack that keeps things fun. The controls are intuitive, making it accessible for everyone. Plus, the cute heterochromatic eyes from Kiwie add an extra layer of charm. Beware of snakes ;_;
