I have no idea why this game exists in the first place but it's kinda unique to say the least and, surprisingly enough, well made for what it is.
Quite standard visual novel, it probably takes 1 hour to be 100% completed. The novel itself is about a chef that has to create the perfect BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) sandwich and of course, it takes place in a kitchen. The graphics overall are quite nice and there's a lot of humour, although the game's too short and yeah most of all one has to deal with the parodistic/humorous aspects of this all. There are no naked girls, couples to meet, romance or whatever else.. it's way more down to earth. The - girls - you will interact with are, in fact, all kitchen items.. like salt, fridge.. and so on. There are a few endings and probably the dialogues as I said are the most interesting things, since they're filled with humour and stereotypes. Though, the game itself lacks of some features like multiple saves or skip options. And it's ovearll extremely short, there are few choices to make and few things to do - luckily, it costs less than 1€/$, so I'd give this one an average vote that combined with the low price can be overall a recommended visual novel if you're into this theme. Don't expect anything deep, there's no romance, no routes, no interesting backgrounds or anything else outside the kitchen you can see in the main Steam store page. And the endings themselves aren't that different from each other, even because.. you're talking with knives and fridges.. By the way, "kitsune" stands for "fox" in Japanese. And the soundtrack, which comes for free, is very nice. It's an original idea for a visual novel, and apart from the errors that I tried to point out it's an ok game to me for an hour or two.

overall alright for in between.
Kitsune Kitchen is not a game, it's a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". To answer that question: When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This E-book features Choose-Your-Own-Adventure elements where you make some decisions that don't do anything to change the fact this is just an E-Book. Nobody finished reading a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book and said "Boy, what a great game I just played!". Because E-books aren't games. And neither is this. This isn't even a serious E-book, it's a joke dumped on Steam with the hopes it'll "go viral" as you read about someone trying to achieve sexual congress with kitchen appliances. Thankfully, it did not "go viral" and most gamers avoided it, because it's garbage. It's only about 30 minutes long, apparently. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. You can get better quality books and comics for free online or from public libraries, or from bookstores for a fraction of the price of this "game". Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games. Some of the defects in the E-Book can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", Technomancy Studios has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. The poor quality of this E-Book is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak reader number was only 7 readers. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only reader activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality E-Book is to be expected. Kitsune Kitchen is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the E-Book, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. Note: Because this is more of a "joke", intended to draw attention from controversy or in the hopes of going viral because it's "so bad it's good" (but it isn't good at all), there's nothing here to offer to serious gamers. As usual, with most awful/joke games, all the comedians come out of the woodwork. The vast majority of the reviews for this E-Book are joke reviews, such as "this game cured my cancer, saved my marriage, changed my life" etc. Because most of the reviews are as insincere as the E-Book itself is, the positive review score for this E-Book should be disregarded.
What... What did I just play...? Rather... What in the hell did the MC ingest to even hallucinate such things?! Lol... Was he so lonely that the kitchen appliances became "sexy women"? IS THAT IT?! WAS THAT IT?! Then it all makes sense. Those women... Appliances are rather... Uhh... Have interesting personalities? Well I tried. I guess I've never been desperate enough to even begin to hallucinate for objects/appliances to transform like that. Oh well. Guess I missed out on the fun that this guy had. But jeez... Please don't put a sharp knife into your mouth... >....< Goodness! Uh... The game is for those who want to pleasure an appliance..........? Or perhaps a salt shaker...? (I gotta say though... This game was ridiculous and funny in a strange way)... XD... ^^".......
my eyes feel violated...
Kistune Kitchen is a comedy visual novel game where you talk to appliances and... have lewd chats with or simply use them for their intended purposes. Yeah, I'm not joking! Even your choices matters! At first I thought the game would be boring, but wow the humour is on point! Some of it is repetitive sure and getting all the endings is quite annoying because there's no proper system to skip dialogues and sometimes you misclick on choices instead. If you want a quick satire game about an overenthusiastic man trying to score appliances, this is it! Overall, for $1 it was a very funny game.
I don't know why i own this or how, but i know 3 things this game has taught me. 1. Love is trash cause you literally start by talking with a trash can 2. All women are just objects made for the kitchen "Don't take an offence if you're female just a joke i don't actually think that way" 3. If you touch the salt be prepared to have your door knocked down by the FBI...
