Greatest game known to man, fun for the entire family.

Kingdom of Piss is an enigmatic story that follows Pretty Piss Princess (PPP) and Asian American (AA). The game lets us look through the lens of something that's not usually represented in traditional media, and there is a lot that can be taken away from this game. One of the many things that the game touches on is the role reversal of the trope of a damsel in distress. Much of the story is progressed through the efforts of PPP, and she shows untraditional problem-solving skills that I'd argue are not only subversive but something that she could only do. She also has AA alongside her. A trusty sidekick to her antics and bringing some of the most powerful humor that the game has to offer. The game makes sure that she's not simply a sidekick, however. AA not only stands by the side of PPP but also manages to add depth to the story with his perspective. It also gives the chance to highlight discrimination and eugenics against Asian Americans. The art design is minimalist to say the least. While rough around the corners, it does have a certain bravado about it that only an indie game could have. Taking most of us back to when gaming was simpler in graphics and choosing to demonstrate the artist's skill in tying the themes together into a single coherent vision that was not only unique but unforgettable. Think of the original DOOM or even Undertale. Where much of its original spirit would be lost in chasing the trends of AAA gaming. Kingdom of Piss hosts a cast of diverse characters that show up through the story, some as recurring characters that offer inside jokes and enhance the scenes they're in. But that's where I feel like this game starts to falter. While they explore the world through PPP and having AA, many side characters don't get enough time in the spotlight to make me feel real attachment to them. Due to some possible fears about the writer taking away from the story by giving these side characters room to breathe, there was much lost. While the game has many experimental aspects, I'm left somewhat disappointed and wanting more for many of the side characters. The story is not only strange but almost feels like more or less unique problems designed to show sides of PPP and then explore them. Which is exactly what a story should do, but since there is a lack of choices and with the story being cut into segments, it highlights the railroading feeling that you might experience by segment 2-3. Besides that, I do, however, think the problems that PPP and AA face fit the game, and they do a good job to make sure the segments feel like their own unique problems and not recycled or something drawn from tropes. Which leaves the game at the very least feeling unique. Some notes: The game's humor might not be for everyone (not referring to the piss). The game taps into a millennial style of humor that some might have trouble digesting due to some really godawful creations in Hollywood. Examples being like the hit show "Velma," which destroyed what originally brought fans to the show and offered up a homunculus of a show. While the millennial humor is aggressive, in the indie gaming space it's an environment of discovery. So I'd wholeheartedly give encouragement to give the game a try; you might surprise yourself. The topics the game can cover can range from nonsensical slapstick to some darker themes. The game sticks to being unapologetically itself even with the risk of losing people through these violent shifts in themes. While some people might really enjoy that and feel reminiscent of Invader Zim or Courage the Cowardly Dog, for those not expecting it, it might be somewhat upsetting. AI. This game features some AI-generated images. One of which, at the writing of this review, is the title screen art. While this is a divisive topic, I'd feel amiss if it wasn't mentioned, as some people absolutely do not feel comfortable with that, regardless of the price tag. The game developers. While this game does seem like a passion project, it's almost afraid of what it is. The name, the marketing, and even some of the humor are designed to almost do everything in their power to scare off players from interacting with it. Which is a real shame since there is something here and more people should know about it. I hope that for future games or a possible sequel to Kingdom of Piss, the developers will allow themselves the freedom of being seen by a larger audience. I think some of their earlier development started with making a joke, but uploading these games to Steam costs $100. So I feel that there is the want to make something unique and creative, but the possible fear of judgment is holding them back from their possible full potential as not only a game designer but as a storyteller.

For some godblessed reason Steam recommended this to me on the front page. It's so good. It's a high bar to give a positive review to a free game, but this one is absolutely worth spending time with. There are an abundance of redeeming qualities.
