About
After asking too many murder-related questions online (for your book), you get an invite to a... serial killer chatroom?!
What the...?
Killer Chat! Original Edition brings the award-winning satirical serial killer dating chatsim you know and love to Steam (Public Favorite & Honorable Mention, Spooktober Jam 2024). Play as a (customisable!) writer as you pretend to be a serial killer, get inspiration for your book, fall in love and try not to call the cops through a whirlwind six months with your murderous beau of choice. Who knows? You might find your happily ever after... or headline the news as a gruesomely lovesick corpse. It's honestly up to you.
A reporter by day, an aspiring writer by night: you've been asking all the important questions on the dark web.
Like, how do you bury a body? How do you kill someone with a crowbar with the right angle to cause blunt-force trauma? What's the best way to hide from law enforcement?
If you're to write a good crime book, this is how you'll do it.
Suddenly, ERROR! UNKNOWN invites you to a server... with a warning. "don't be so obvious smh You're Gonna Get Caught".
...
It's a serial killer chatroom.
You may be slightly screwed.
Play as a (fully customisable!) character as you…
Desperately pretend to be a serial killer… just like the other girls serial killers. So they don't kick you out. Or kill you. Oh god, they might kill you.
Get to know some killers. You might as well scope this out, right? No better chance to gather accurate first-hand data for your book.
Huh, they're actually kind of nice?
Oh shit, he's hot. And she's hot.
Maybe you can… date… some murderers? What even is your life.

Customisable MC! (Name, username, personality, gender, face, body, clothing, accessories, what kind of pseudo serial killer you are...)
Four serial killers love interests across all genders (male, female, non-binary)...
Story-rich, choice-based branching towards 8 unique endings.
Make voice and video calls to the server's serial killers, listen to voice messages, get them to accept your friend requests, and more!

Write your own status, biography, and messages in chat!

Four illustrated CG's.
Custom-made OST and sound effects.
A playtime of approx. 2-3 hours per route, 9-12 hours for all routes.
There will be many more features, routes, storylines, and DLCs exclusive to the Expanded Edition of Killer Chat!, which you may wishlist on Steam now!
Death, murder, references to abuse, and serial killers... but you knew that.

(An arsonist, a slasher out of the '90's, a surfer who trips into killing, a lonely hearts poisoner ... you'll have to play the game, won't'cha?)

not spoiler free review pros [+] very likeable cast of characters [+] there's probably replayability but i can't bring myself to get any of the bad endings [+] honestly really liked the voice acting [+] cute artwork, though there isn't an extreme amount of it [+] literally a free game that's better than most of the paid games in the genre [+] weirdly wholesome in a good way despite the concept [+] lgbt friendly in a way that feels pretty natural; a lot of games will be kinda hamfisted with it and make it really awkward/noticeable but the general lack of hard focus on it ironically serves to make it a much better representation which is refreshing cons [-] obviously short but it's free so it's more of a 'i wish it had way more' than a con [-] choices seem to not really matter much... to be honest i personally preferred this overall but sometimes i found myself wishing that what i did mattered just a little bit more [-] my biggest gripe is that
ronin in other character's paths is kind of written in a way where he's like, omniscient? infallible? not just because he picks up on stuff but like he just literally is never wrong or makes any mistakes or even really gets surprised the way the other characters do; i found him really offputting because of this and how much of the base of the story seems to revolve around ronin and only ronin doing things to advance the plot -- like, there's a vigilante bounty hunter in there who immediately makes more sense as someone who would be onto you but he just never is/when he tries he just gets it wrong, everyone else more or less trusts you the entire time, i kind of wish the other characters had more moments where they doubt you just to shift it away from 'basically ronin runs the entire plot and everyone else is just there'
[-] mechanically there's a couple bugs here and there with things displaying at improper times, especially if you rewind at all, but it's not really gamebreaking enough to care all in all phenomenal game, frankly shocked it's free given how good it is, i bought the christmas and overkill dlcs and am waiting patiently for the expanded edition; given how ridiculously good the free game is i can't imagine the expanded edition being anything but an instant buy when it drops
yes
It's fun. play it.
é divertidinho n é o melhor jogo do mundo mas ta na media de um datesim
when i first heard ronins voice i thought he would be an ugly chud but ♥♥♥♥ hes hot i tried to continue with my preferance being men but i kept calling the cops on them so i spent like and hour trying to figure out how to fix that; you cant be gay. you have to be attracted to women too i suppose
such an original idea for a game, at first i was stressing out because i kept getting the early ending, but when i finally calmed down i got further and really enjoyed the game.
originally played on itch.io then played here on steam. I had so much fun with the different routes and getting to know all of the romancable characters; the only thing that made me feel weary was surprisingly the serial killer aspect (which, knowing me, is a very strange thing to be weirded out by, trust me). I think that is why I was significantly more drawn to V and his righteous reasoning behind what he does (like Light Yagami but somehow better). I played all of the routes of this game, and although I do wish there was more of a plot, I have a soft spot for text chat VNs like this.
