About
Welcome to Kart Attack, one of the most thrilling racing experiences you can get your hands on. With a selection of fantastic tracks and a cast of karts each with a unique style and ability, you and up to three friends (or CPU competitors if you like a challenge) battle for domination of the race. Use power-ups and your kart's special ability to get an edge over your opponents and, hopefully, avoid the return fire.

This game is a love letter from the Southern Arkansas University Game Development Class of 2020. Graduating at the height of COVID-19, the class decided to end their term with a bang—creating a racing game featuring characters and tracks from every game they made during that time. Now, in 2026, graduates from that class bring you this swan song, remastered and pumped full of kart-racing carnage.

Kart Attack, developed by Team Warhorse and published by SAU Game Lab, is a compact arcade kart racer that leans into fast, chaotic competition rather than technical driving depth. It carries the energy of a project built with enthusiasm and a clear focus on fun, aiming to recreate the kind of unpredictable, laughter-filled racing sessions typically associated with local multiplayer games. Instead of trying to compete with genre leaders through scale or complexity, it embraces a lighter approach centered on accessibility and quick matches. The core gameplay follows a familiar structure, placing players on colorful tracks where the objective is to outpace opponents while using a variety of items and character-specific abilities. Controls are intentionally simple, allowing players to jump in with little to no learning curve. Rather than emphasizing precision driving, the game focuses on moment-to-moment action, where the use of power-ups and timing of abilities can dramatically change the outcome of a race. This design keeps the pacing lively, as positions can shift rapidly and no lead ever feels completely secure. A major part of the game’s identity comes from its character roster and the abilities tied to each racer. These abilities add a layer of personality and give players a reason to experiment with different choices, even if the overall impact on strategy is relatively light. Combined with the item system, they contribute to a sense of unpredictability that defines each race. Success often depends as much on reacting to sudden changes as it does on maintaining consistent driving performance, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on chaos over control. The experience is clearly built with multiplayer in mind, particularly local play. Competing against friends in split-screen mode brings out the best in the game, as the unpredictable mechanics and constant interference create moments that are as entertaining as they are competitive. While solo play is available through AI opponents, it lacks the same level of excitement, as the behavior of computer-controlled racers cannot fully replicate the spontaneity of human players. As a result, the game feels most complete when shared with others, where its design choices have the greatest impact. In terms of content, Kart Attack offers a modest selection of tracks and modes, including standard races, tournaments, and time trials. These options provide some variety, but they do not significantly alter the core gameplay loop. Tracks are designed to be easy to read and navigate, prioritizing clarity over complexity, which works well for maintaining the fast pace but limits the sense of discovery over time. After several sessions, the repetition becomes more noticeable, as there are few new elements introduced to keep the experience evolving. Visually, the game adopts a bright and exaggerated style that complements its playful tone. Characters are designed with a sense of humor, and the environments are colorful without being overly detailed. This approach ensures that the action remains easy to follow, even during more chaotic moments. While the presentation does not aim for high-end visual fidelity, it succeeds in supporting the gameplay and reinforcing the game’s lighthearted identity. The simplicity that makes Kart Attack approachable also limits its depth. Driving mechanics lack the nuance found in more refined racers, and the absence of a substantial progression system reduces long-term motivation. There is little in the way of unlockables or meaningful goals beyond completing races, which can make extended play sessions feel less rewarding. These limitations highlight the game’s smaller scope, positioning it as a short-form experience rather than something designed for sustained engagement. Even so, Kart Attack delivers on its core intention. It provides a straightforward, easy-to-understand racing experience that thrives on unpredictability and social interaction. It does not attempt to be a comprehensive or highly competitive racer, but instead focuses on creating moments of fun that are best shared with others. When approached with the right expectations, it offers an enjoyable and accessible way to spend time in quick, energetic sessions. In the end, Kart Attack stands as a light and entertaining addition to the kart racing genre, offering a burst of chaotic fun without the complexity of larger titles. Its limited content and shallow mechanics prevent it from having lasting appeal, but its approachable design and multiplayer focus make it a worthwhile option for casual play. Rating: 7/10
Once there was a man with a 30 minute lunch break searching endlessly for a game to play before he had to return to his meaningless life and then that man found this game and played it non-stop for 30 minutes and it changed his life. I was that man This game kept me entertained for half hours on end that I played and I can 100% say that this game changed! my! life! making me want to be a better husband, & wife, I will spend the rest of my days thinking about this game and how grateful I am that the amazing developers made such a wonderful creation it cost you nothing to give this game a play. but by not playing it, you lose out on everything.
its fun. I miss these kind of games, simulators are fun, but sometimes its too much of a chore, these are relaxing and stress free. I thought this was online multiplayer but no
Great map design, innovative power-ups, cool and relatable character models, and great music. I enjoyed it and hope to see more from the development team.
△ - This game comes off as more of an experiment/concept than an actual game ready for production - It's kind of funny to include Curiosity as a racer × - Graphics are ugly. The power up pickups are just huge, hideous glowing cubes - Music can be very out of place and bad - Menu is cut off very badly in 32:9 aspect ratio - Acceleration is locked to the A button with no option for triggers. No option to re-map controls. - Very few tracks and racers which feels underwhelming, although some racers are locked - No achievements, clouds saves, or anything. This tells me the developers just don't care.
La verdad? es que es un juego de carreras bastante promedio y divertido. Feo como el tajo del pico, pero entretenido.
