I tried, I really did. I WANTED to like this game. I don't. The game looks like a shoddy 2000 made game. Graphic quality looks like crap, the UI is terribly made, animations are really crap. The playerbase is entirely Russian, and the game itself is just another point and click MMO. Melee enemies can hit you from any distance, and it doesn't do a good job of telling you the strength of your foes. Classes are gender and race locked. You don't get to choose either. The class I tried, the Gunner, is locked at male, and locked at looking like an obese dwarf. Every class has the same limits. Don't play this game. There are much better alternatives. EDIT: Why did I only play for 0.3 hours? Because I couldn't TAKE any more of it. When I said that I wanted to like the game, let me explain. When Karos initially released, it was only in Russian. Once I saw Karos Returns was localized, I was going to give it the chance to redeem itself. To address Lioside's comments: 1: There WERE NO SETTINGS to change. I am running a rather high-end graphics card that can run most games smoothly, so it wasn't a matter of pc specs. 2: An entirely Russian playerbase means very few players will understand English. No English comprehension means anyone who's new to the game, and speaks English, cannot recieve any help from the (Russian) community. It's like when a Spanish speaking person joins the NA server, then gets shouted out for saying a single phrase in Spanish. 3: It's 2015. Most games out there are NOT gender and race locked. RIFT, Guild Wars 2, Defiance, even things like Maplestory! The only games that ARE are outdated games like Karos Returns that have not ADAPTED and EVOLVED to suit the times. (Okay, fine, EDIT2: Removed TERA from the list.) So please, Lioside, don't make me commit another Liocide. I don't like killing arguments, especially not when they are so poorly reasoned. Oh, and one last thing. 8 out of the 10 positive reviews are/were joke reviews people give to screw with the public. 2 were reasoned out, but both said the game was either dated, or focused towards the niche fanbase of the genre.

pro: +pets and mounts arent ridiculously expensive +Easy to get into +A big open world +Path finder Cons: -Dated graphics -very small playerbase -the interface is quite messy -gender locked classes -race locked classes -extremely generic "Tab target" combat give it a try if you're looking for a mediocre MMORPG but don't expect something amazing. 5/10
If you've played any MMORPG from the early/mid aughts then you've played this. It's feels like Lineage 2 and any other MMO made using the same engine. It's pretty much as generic as you can get. It hasn't aged well. If you still enjoy Lineage 2 (Lineage 1 was better) you might like this.
A typical MMO with a typical fetch quest system, typical MMO boobs, and gender and race locked classes
This game needs a lot of improvements - Better font Option to customize interface size (couldnt read anything with 1920x1080px) Default mouse rotate sensitivity is ridiculously high Water graphic seems bugged for me I also missed "interaction key" - clicking on every NPC for dialogue is annoying If I could zoom to face in character creation - that would be also nice.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this game. 10 years ago this would have been a great game, but everything (sound, graphics, interface, etc.) is terribly dated. Just a note to all the inverted Y axis players out there; you are forced to play in 'Arcade' mode. I was very surprised to see that an inverted Y axis option was not available.
This game has nothing new to the MMORPG genre. Its got nothing new and even the normal elements that makes a basic MMORPG in this game is done poorly. Like I said this MMO is basic: the world's tiny even for an MMO, the graphics look like WOW when it first came out (2004) and lag is so bad as I'm lucky if I get 30 frames. Whenever I play these free games I have to ask myself: "What's different to this game that will me make me play it than another free game of that version?" And god no, I don't want to switch over from another free MMO. Even the stuff that is so basic an MMO couldn't stuff up this game seems to do it. Combat is clunky as ♥♥♥♥, all the classes are generic and the interface is just poor. Even if you are looking for an MMO, don't play this game. I can recommend much better ones such as TERA or Star Wars: The Old Republic. The only good thing about this game: The cutscene at the start looked pretty sick??? Yeano don't play this game
March 17 . . . . the game is back up! The authentication servers are back on line. Thumbs up. March 12 . . . . .well the game is back down. The authentication server is N.A. If you log in from Steam, you will get a blank screen with an animated background. Thumbs down. Feb 23 . . . .today, this game is back up. Inventory, auction, quests, and monsters are back. Both Steam and GamesCampus accounts can log in and interact with the environment. Gameplay is smoothe. Look for updates in the comments section. If I change it from Thumbs Down to Thumbs Up, its because I feel WebZen is being serious about Karos. my original review, which was a thumbs down I really really really like this game. Unfortunately, GC was bought by WebZen in November 2015. They offered a 175% coin credit just before Thanksgiving and then fired all the staff 2 weeks later. Apparently, WebZen took the money and ran. Karos stopped functioning in January and its been a month, more or less, since WebZen disconnected the SQL servers (inventory/auction/quest/anything specific to the characters not in thier inventory AND the mob spawn) from the environment server. So you can't get any quests, access for inventory, really do anything. I have not been able to log in from Steam for a month and my GC accounts are spotty, averaging once every week now. Well, its the death of a game, as far as I am concerned. I did have a 10 minute discussion with the California Attorney General's office and they asked me to write this up and send it in, so they could investigate and compel a refund of my $100 in game store credits. If you want to see more, check out the gamescampus.com Karos Returns forums, or do a web search for reviews WebZen. IF YOU SPEAK SPANISH, PORTEGUESE, RUSSIAN OR TURKISH, THOSE SERVERS ARE STILL WORKING. WebZen does not have the rights to those languages, only English.
This game has been terminated and no longer works GRRRR i downloaded this game via a recommended for you link thinking this would work. Steam reallllly needs to update their stuff cause this game was killed over a month ago! it should have been removed from steam to prevent this from happening! soooooo dissapointed!
