Jubeez is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a lazy cash grab. It's a lame match-3 game, but they managed to make such a game even worse by using ugly retro pixel "art". Instead of the usual grid of gems to move around, Jubeez lets you place the "gems" or whatever onto the grid yourself, but of course you don't control which colour comes up and you can only place a jubee adjacent to the last one you place, so the puzzle is in carefully placing gems of the right colour to form groups of 3 or more matching colours. As far as match-3 games go, this is pretty bad with the ugly retro pixel "art" being used instead of contemporary visuals. This twist on the usual match-3 gameplay doesn't add much to the game and it doesn't make it any more interesting than Bejewelled, which is of course free, where they want to actually be paid for this one. Don't laugh, it's true. Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $1 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers.
Original concept, great colors, It lacks diversity in music (only one) and in game modes (only one) I had it as a gift but I reckon it's cheap and it will keep you busy a few hours if you like reflexion games.
Sunk 100+ hours. Can't beat the Asian dude with the highscore
Although there is exactly one content contained in the game, the idea is novel and it's strangely addictive, so I don't think that I wasted a dollar. The first impression for this game is "RNG-dominated", but this is a strangely well-balanced game. Recommended for people who likes short yet interesting games. Not "10 out of 10" though. It's too bad that there were a lot of ways to increase volume of this game such as achievements, campaign mode, or various map configurations. None of these are in the game.
It's an okay game for a few minutes, but the gameplay loop gets real old real fast. I'm terrible at this game and somehow got #12 on the leader board, which should really tell you all you need to know. Not sure it's even worth the less than a dollar it is on sale.
I mean blocks. What's not to like? 10/10 would recommend!
Not really a fan of the match-3 "genre", and there aren't many puzzle games as a whole that I'd recommend. Jubeez doesn't bring enough extra to the main mechanic for me to really set itself apart.
