"Joy Flight" is a very badly made and badly monetized cash grab, a VR exclusive "arcade flight" game that seems to have been designed to abuse the Steam Marketplace... it's also infested with a nasty mobile app like cash shop. Yeah, a VR game with a cash shop. Disgusting, isn't it? What do you do in the game? If you can get the game to work (it doesn't work with a lot of, you know, VR headsets) you don't do much anyway... it's not a flight sim, and it's definitely not a good attempt at making a game, either. The graphics aren't great... a bunch of mismatched models, low poly junk that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. On pricing, this is only superficially free as the developer has infested this with a nasty cash shop and also expects you to farm/buy community items... basically NFTs, except instead of backed by a blockchain the dev is using the Steam Community Market to sell his NFTs. This is, obviously, cancer. This is pollution... it's harmful to everyone. It hurts genuine indie devs, who have to compete with this pollution to get visibility for their sincerely made games. It makes indie devs look bad. It makes it harder for gamers to find those genuinely made games. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

Very broken. Controls are lousy and physics are worse. I can deal with janky but this is not playable.
I played it with my Meta Quest 3. Huge issue with using the controllers. They are very very very sensitive. Smallest movements causes HUGE changes in plane's rills and pitches. Not really playable.
Joy Flight is a free to play, open world arcade flight sim. The game features a fully interactive cockpit which you control to fly the plane. The control system is simple to learn and easy to use. You do not need to be a flight sim pro to play this game. You play the game in a large open world divided into 29 islands you need to unlock, the world even has a changing weather system where you will fly in sunshine to thunderstorms. Your goal is to fly through targets and collect points and land on the runways. I have not successfully landed on a runway, but I think its how you unlock the island, and drop off the passenger that is in the plane with you. Now I am not very good at flight sim and usually stay away from them. This one felt great though. It is not a hardcore flight sim and is made for the casual flight sim player like me. I had a blast playing this game, even though I ended every flight with a crash. It was still some of the most fun I have had in a VR flight game, and got the most air time. I even made the leaderboards and that is big for a VR pilot with my skills. Over all I had a great time inside this game. The graphics are simple but very nice, with a sound track to match. There is no timers ticking or people shooting at you. Its just you and the open sky. This is a fantastic free flight sim that anyone can jump in and enjoy themselves. You do not need to be a flight sim pro to enjoy this game. Watch my preview here, https://youtu.be/oE8A_8R6lv8
Very fun and simple. Would recommend!
its bad because if you are playing on the valve index the hands fly or dont move and i checked if it was my controllers or base stations werent working but they were working correctly the hands are bad i wouldnt recommend this game buy flight sim
it's actually really good and a great way to know if you get motion sick from vr. It feels satisfying doing barrel rolls and loops the only complaints i have are that the throttle is a bit too powerful when you lift off and the stearing stick is a bit delayed. I'm on a Rift S
