Jotun: Valhalla Edition

Jotun is one of the games where I wish I had a "maybe" option for my review. It does near everything right, but the one thing it doesn't do made it really hard for me to keep playing, as the difficulty of the game never felt quite right. And that is the character's speed of pretty much everything. Mind you, everything else is pretty solid. The art is beautiful, the very unique hand drawn artstyle of the studio's other games is just as good on their first game. The story was fun to follow and gave some interesting insights on Norse mythology and gods, and I did enjoy the main character's occasional insights/monologues about her life. And even mechanically, I liked exploring the game's world, solving the puzzles, and in theory I also loved the bosses, who have unique gimmicks and mechanics I'd normally love in most games. Except even though they looked like they'd be fun to play, I ended up less than happy to actually fight them, because both the attack speed and the movement speed of the player character are too low, and ultimately made for some truly frustrating combat. In an otherwise really fun combat environment, even after I learned the attack patterns of each boss, I struggled to land hits or meaningfully lower the boss' health bar simply because of how slow Thora's attacks are. I really struggled to get used to it even when being halfway through the game, and got stuck on a boss for a rather long time, so I ended up dropping it just because of how much I'm struggling there. I still hesitantly recommend it if you can get past the character's speed, but I want to note that this is probably for people more experienced with this type of combat than most. I think everyone else might find it a bit too challenging. Besides the speed though, this is a great game!

Jotun: Valhalla Edition - очень красивая, атмосферная игра о скандинавской мифологии с впечатляющей рисованной графикой и эпичными боями с йотуннами. Понравилась история Торы, работа озвучки и музыки, а путешествие по мифологическим локациям действительно ощущается как путь в Вальхаллу.

재밌긴 한데 속도감이 없다. 캐릭터가 너무 느리고 맵에 현재 위치도 안보여줘서 계속 맵이랑 주변 환경 보면서 위치 파악하면서 가야한다. 공격과 구르기도 느리다. 무엇보다 공격할때 걸리는 시간이 조금 있는데 마지막 보스를 패턴 그렇게 해놓고 너무한거 아니냐. 진짜.
